it seems that no matter what type of football we play our fans are too quick to jump on the players backs.

if we play route one stuff its "get it down and play"
if we play like Barcelona its "get it forward"
and if we play like hull city its pissing and moaning when the players see nobody on so they pass it back.

i think most of us agree that we want whats best for the team, its a shame the fans at the KC feel like they know better!

Does my head in, i will readily admit i probably think i know more about football than i do. But some are utterly clueless about tactics or patience or anything to do with football times.

There was a lot of this near me in the South stand on Saturday, some people are just never happy! Even after we were winning at the end some clown was berating one of the players for passing it back and keeping it safe!

i noticed that tonight, i think everybody was fairly congtent at 0-0, we where the better team, trying to wear them down..then they scored, and then every slightly misplaced pass was greeted with a massive groan, didnt even give them a chance to regroup and try and claw it back <laugh>

I remember at the Cardiff game hearing 3 blokes rant and rave at Hobbs for passing back to the keeper at about 89 minutes, we were 1 goal up obviously but these blokes were all screaming to get it forward. Then a little lad (must have been 9 or 10) near me said to his dad "good to see us keeping the ball, we're doing the right thing aren't we?" Really made me laugh that some little kid knew more about basic tactics than these 3 idiots who'd probably watched football a hell of a lot longer.

The crowd was weird tonight, we were loud at times but when nothing was happening the place was deathly silent, weird. I agree with what the OP is saying but I think the issue is more that we need to believe in the team more. We have a fantastic squad thanks to NP and NB seems the perfect man to lead them. We are as good as anyone in this league as we've shown over the past few weeks, even the games we've lost we've totally dominated. Someone texted into sportstalk before the game tonight saying they thought we had an outside chance of the playoffs. FFS we're in the playoffs now and we're improving all the time, we have a great chance of being in them come the end of the season.

Gary Neville came out with a little comment the other day which I liked.

At one nil you've already won the game. You don't have to go and try and win it again.

This was said in relation to not pushing on and taking unnecessary risks in the last five minutes when you are winning .

This concept would be lost on a lot of our fans, completely lost.
