If everyone is fit, and we have had enough games with a more-or-less settled squad, what is our best lineup ? I know coaches like to change lineups/formations to nullify the opposition etc (although I think that is best done with best players playing to their strengths), so what is our best ? For what it is worth, it seems that keeper, back 3 and front 2 (starting)are fairly fixed. gomez, angella, Cathcart Hoban or Ekstrand at back,.... Deeney Ighalo at front. It's the other 5 that matter most. I would play Watson Toszer & Abdi in centre with Anya & Layun on outside. Both anya & Layun can play on either side. Layun a bit more defensive, but it seems to me he reads the game extremely well. This gives us Munari, Forestieri Vydra Pudil & Paredes as substitutes of good enough standard.
That's not a good start is it? I've forgotten the rules, but I assume we would have to tweak the subs. sorry to waste everyone's time, but if the 'rules' could be explained, i'll rethink it. Cheers
Bond would be your reserve keeper so lose one of your subs and you have the legal squad (Pudil or Paredes I guess)
It seems the rule is 6 homegrown players in the matchday squad. homegrown is defined as '3 seaons or 36 months registration with english or welsh club before the age of 21'. So, Bond, Deeney, Anya, Cathcart, Watson & hoban would be required. We also have murray & Lloydinio. I suppose the rule explains Byers presence with Murray unfit. Seems we need to get 2 'homegrown' players in on loan. I suppose it also makes the debate a bit sterile. Anyway, anyone out there with the will to live might want to comment further. If not, I'm not too surprised.
I would probably go with; ------------------Gomes---------------- -----Cathcart--Angella--Hoban----- Layun------------------------------Pudil --------------Tozser--Watson---------- ---------------------Abdi------------------ -----------Igahlo-----Deeney----------- Subs; Bond, Anya, Munari, Vydra, Forestieri, Paredes, Ekstrand Think the home-grown rule will be satisfied by Cathcart, Hoban, Watson, Deeney, Bond and Anya. if not, add either Smith or Murray in for Parades Not really sure how much of a future Murray has at the club now. He burst onto the scene as a winger and has never really been able to adapt to either a central role or wing-back.
