    Hi guys,

    I haven't posted in a while, been very busy with work over the summer and have spent a lot of time on the championship banter page on football <angel>

    Anyway, I'ved been giving some serious thought about our best team and in what formation, and have finally come to the conclusion that we should play 4-3-3.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Ashdown~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Ward~~~~~~~~~Halford~~Pearce~~~~~~Ben Haim
    ~~~~~Lawrence~~~~~Norris~~~~Mullins~~~~~~~
    ~~~~~Husklepp~~~~~~~~~~~~~Varney~~~~~~~
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Benjani~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    The only thing I am unhappy with in this team is that Rocha and Hermann miss out :(

    No no no! We have to play 4-4-2.

    Eric and Varney are not wide men, although you could occasionally use one of them in that position.

    We need another creative midfield player. Lawrence may be able to do a job but we need another. Norris is not the answer.

    It's where he played on Tuesday (and where he played for a while when he first joined), and he looked impressive there.

    Nothing against Hermann, but... He is struggling a little at left back :/

    Huseklepp is a winger though, and Varney looks very impressive bombing down the left <ok>

    Agreed, Varney's got pace but he's not too hot at beating a fullback with anything else.Don't forget, it was Andy Griffin he was up against for most of the game. No disrespect to Andy but he's nearly as old as Kanu! It was his loss of possession whilst bombing forward that led to the Brighton goal.
    He's more effective in the box, as up at Boro.

    Ah, fair enough. In that case, maybe:

    Huseklepp is quoted as saying he probably won't be ready for the Bristol game.

    (BTW - nice to see you back Jake, thought you must have been on a gap-year or something.)

    Not ready for Bristol!? GRRRRRR! <laugh>

    Thank you very much, I got my A Level results today, so am in a good mood. Got a summer job which I've just got a promotion in :) My internet has been a bit funny recently, so I've avoided using it where possible (but have Facebook on my phone, hence why I have been on the banter page quite a bit).

    Good for you Jakey. How did you do?

    I got eighteen months thru 3 'A' levels back in '76-'77 and got expelled for smoking a bit of puff in the common room <doh> and that was that!

    It all worked out OK in the end though <ok>

    You got expelled? That's harsh...

    I got an A in media, B in film studies and general studies, C in Sociology, and a D in English Language :)

    4-3-3 is definitely our best formation (team Jake originally posted IMO). We don't have a left midfielder needed to play 4-4-2 week in, week out.

    Huseklepp is used to playing out on the wing or the support striker role, and I think Varney does a pretty damn good job on the other side. I reckon Cotts will bring another, younger striker so Benji can be used as an impact sub.

    Only other thing we're missing is a creative player in the middle, but that would mean having to drop one of Lawrence/Norris/Mullins.
