I know i'll get accused of arogance, but another discussion made me have a thought. If our aim is to be self financing in the premiership, a stadium upgrade would help. However, an upgrade is no good if we cannot fill the extra capacity. Therefore, what do you think our average attendance would be if we were a mid table premiership side (with season tickets costing between £600 and £750)?
£750?! Blimey. My hope is that when we get up to the Premier League, after the initial hike in prices, that we start to freeze prices as we stabilise in the league eg like Wigan.
I voted 30-32,500 because you used the phrase "mid table". If we are top 6 regularly and the stadium is expanded then 40,000 plus. You are right, people will give it the "arrogant" line, but sod them it's a forum and we are just saying "what if"
with segregation and so on i think the 27000-30,000 yes we will get more at times but our average at the ground would probs be 29000 just becuase of away fans and we wont always sell out
gone for 30000 to 32500 as an average. could easily see us attracting more for man u etc but wigan, swansea etc 28000
Yeah but lets say if we're in the Premier League for 10 years under his stewardship (just for arguments sake) , does you expect for prices to hike up EVERY year. I'd hope not, especially for loyal fans.
Not sure. I think it'll depend on where we are in the Prem. I hope prices are kept reasonable too; I'm just hypothesising
Gone for lowest gate offered, because with segregation that's all we could manage at the moment. Can't see us expanding the ground until we've been there for years. Better to get financially comfortable than get back into trouble. Remember we no longer have a billionnaire owner who might get carried away if we became successful in the Premier League (RIP Markus). If we cast our mind back to our Prem days, I suspect that we could have sold an extra 10,000 tickets only for the top games. An interesting question..what will be our gates in the Championship? We were flying in League 1 but only approached full for a few games last season. There will be more away fans, but I still suspect our average gate will be about 25,000-26,000.
I personally don't see why our av attendance figures will be much different from our four seasons at st marys in the prem between 2001 and 2005, so 30000+
who voted 50k!? Thats getting on for double what we average when we were in the prem at SMS last time around!
Why would anyone vote over 32500? It will take 18 months to get planning and build the extension and we will be in the premiership in less than a year.
We could easily get high 30,000s if we were established Prem team...........why so many putting high 20,000s!!
Perhaps not phrased the question well enough, but I was asking what attendances would be if stadium capacity was not an issue (i.e. how big a stadium do would we need).
If we wanted to be able to accommodate most people who want to come but avoid too many empty seats, we need a stadium that could hold about 35-37,000. We know from our own Prem days, we could have sold more tickets for the big games but still had some empty seats for lesser teams.
