Evening Saints We got told ticket news for our FA Cup game at your place and we are pretty annoyed tbh... We have been given an initial allocation of 3065 tickets which go on sale next week... Aren't we entitled to like 5000!? Will they give us the extra 2000 if we sell out? I know of loads of Chelsea fans that want to go and a 3pm kick off in the cup.. we would easily take 5000...
You will get the whole of the Northam (if needed) for the Cup. What is annoying is how few away tickets are available for the PL league games compared with the Championship. Saints have always had a big following for away games.
FA rules entitle the visitors up to 15%, which would be about 4,800. As the visiting club normally has to pay up front, they often decide to take a reduced allocation with an option to buy more depending on sales. So it's probably Chelsea who have decided on 3065, as they could have insisted on more.
Absolutely, the one real drawback since getting in to the PL has been the poor allocation of tickets for away games.
I just hope we don't kick ourselves in the foot in not getting the whole allocation first time around in the way that we may not get the extra tickets due to postage etc... We just sold out Leeds away for a Wednesday night game near Xmas so we will easily sell out Southampton at 3pm... It will be my first trip to St Mary's so looking forward to it
I can understand that...we are lovely P.s. don't be alarmed, but we may sing our manager's name in a non-derogatory manner.
Yeah well having 5000 of us there would also make for a great atmosphere I'm sure.. I've got Leeds away first though on Wednesday... That will be very different and they aren't so friendly tbh. Taking the club train which goes to Wakefield and then bussed with a police escort to Elland Road. I'm sure we'll get a nice welcome there. Then after the game kept in the ground for 30 mins then the same routine back... As for that last bit... well... I'll believe it when hear it! Nonsense I tell you...
Not the whole stand, most of it, but if I remember correctly, when Saints played Man Utd in the cup when we were in league 1, there were some Saints fans in the Northam stand.
16th minute... get ready... it will happen. Though I don't understand all this media nonsense saying it is disrespectful towards Rafa. Imo our applauding RDM is us paying our respects to a Chelsea legend who we felt was harshly treated. Nothing towards Rafa in that respect.
Benitez strikes me as a professional who can take that sort of thing in his stride and concentrate on his team. But what about the banners criticising his appointment? That's hardly going to make him feel welcome. Or will all that stop if he starts getting results (which he has, to be fair)?
Please no plastic flags and Surrey cling ons, West London only and supporters who can remember the shed, Ken Bates, electric fences, proper good Chelsea fans. This is a possibilty to why we have only offered this amount of tickets.
The banners have largely stopped tbh. I was at West Ham and our support was quite fierce towards Rafa and Roman. 'Is this what you want, Roman Abramovich, is this what you want?' and obviously the fat Spanish waiter chants etc. I don't really think chanting the fat spanish waiter chants are useful tbh and just show us supporters in bad light. The one chant we sing most though is 'we don't care about Rafa, he don't care about us, all we care about, is Chelsea FC' which when I was at Sunderland, we sang a lot. I think that chant is fine and just shows that the most important thing is the club. I think there are those that won't ever accept him as Chelsea manager and there are those who with good results, will start to like him. I'm on the fence at the moment...
Well we have that going to Leeds on Wednesday. Only the proper supporters. Leeds away isn't one to take the kids too etc... As it's the cup there will be a variety but our away support is class tbh and all of our away support are the 'hardcore Chelsea fans' for want of another expression...
I'm sure you will get the rest once those are gone. Seem to remember about 5,500 going to Utd for the FA Cup game (the Chaplow one), can't remember what block they go round to in the Northam but it's about 2/3rd of it. PS Any chance of rearranging that League game at your place soon.
