http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/spor...ws/dick-advocaat-refuses-nail-colours-9906772 Ignore the stupid headline, but I'm reading this as Dick basically confirming there's no money left... "He (Short) says we have four or five players. But I said we need quality players." "Watching what other teams are doing at the moment, we stay a little bit on the same level as we were before. We still have a week, but financial-wise, at the moment, we can’t compete. No. We can compete to stay in the league, but not more." "If we get the players in we are working on it [avoiding relegation] will be easier than last season, but the problem is that all the other teams are spending fortunes, and we cannot." Time for Ellis to go?
Reading between the lines he is saying nowt other than we cannot compete with the big lads so our money has to be used more wisely. Good housekeeping.
Just my tuppence worth but I think Shorty wants out. Trouble is, if you have something you want to sell you have to find a buyer. **** knows who we'll end up with. We'll probs end up on ebay.
I agree, And how do you find a buyer? You make sure your assets is in the black. looks like he's using the tv money to balance up and sell off
Well maybe I'm jumping the gun mate, I don't know, none of us do. That's what's so frustrating. Even if he does balance the books he's not guaranteed a sale is he? It might end up like when you're trying to sell your car & you get the tyre kickers having a look. Is there a web site called www.webuyanyfootballclub.com ?
I think Short has led Advocaat and the fans up the garden path this summer. If the fans and the manager knew then what we know now, many wouldn't have renewed season cards and Advocaat would be happily retired at home now... If the reports are true and he is trying to imply he kept his word with these 4 or 5 very mediocre signings then we should all be worried. I've said it before but we could do with Niall Quinn at the club at the moment...

It'll all come out in the wash marra... When the inevitable happens I can't see DA being the sort to drift away quietly, I'm sure he'll explain his reasons!
£100million! Survive just 1 more season and his business gets £100million. Survive the next 5 years for £0.5billion! Thats a quarter of his total personal wealth. Why would he want to sell?
I'd like to know why Mr short is keeping a low profile. Looks like he is scared to raise his head over the parapet for fear of being blasted. Rick is playing a very good game of words which I admire from him.
Exactly, He wouldn't. I don't see him splashing the cash either, though. Loks like another trip to black and blue, or whatever it's called, to have a word.....
Got to disagree with you on your last point there though Crumble. All this talking and whining in the press. For me, its undignified and should remain behind closed doors.
Because he never liked football in the first place, it's been nowt but hassle and he just wants out. I reckon.
Agree it should be kept behind closed doors but it would be nice if short put the record straight one way or the other an quashed the rumours.
I can't see him wanting to sell at this stage, maybe he's just fed up with putting his own money in. Still, a couple of very good loans would make all the difference to the squad, you'd still have issues but you'd have more competition for places.
