They might not win another game this season but can we take advantage ? 3 wins might keep us up. Winnable are home, Sheff w, Norwich and Burton Wolves if they are up by then. Away draws at QPR and Reading, so even a draw with Wolves would give us 12 points so 40 points and that should do it.
We've only won 5 ALL season!!! It ain't going to start now!!! I agree that teams have not yet pulled away but at the moment 4pts is a mile off!!! Oh how I'd love you to be right, but thinking real terms this is a no-no??
It used to break my heart, not to see us being even an average team, and I hope with all of my heart that we manage to stay up. If, or when, we do go down again, I hope to god that there is someone out there who could take us forward. I yearn for the day when we can sing with pride again, and tell people 'yes, I support Sunderland'
I used to get angry at our results, now just numb with the disbelief!!!! To think of what we once were!!!
Interestingly, there are relatively few ''6 pointers'' to come between the bottom 7. 17 Mar Birmingham v Hull 3 Apr Bolton v Birmingham 7 Apr Burton v Birmingham 10 Apr Burton v Hull 14 Apr Barnsley v Bolton 14 Apr Sunderland v Reading 21 Apr Sunderland v Burton 28 Apr Burton v Bolton So we can have some hope that the others won't pick up many wins against ''higher'' teams -- this season survival could be achieved on low points total. Having said that, we can't beat either 'higher' or 'lower'teams so it could all be academic.
We've drawn more games than any of the teams around us. Can we turn some draws into wins? It's unlikely, but we were playing one of the top teams last night so I expected just what we got and that was nothing. CC has to come up with a plan to get at least three possibly four wins, but can we do it? Never give up hoping - that's all that any of us can do.
17th March is huge. You have Preston (H) which you surely need points from and Barnsley have a decent home game, and Birmingham play Hull. If the gap widens, with 8 games to go it starts to become a countdown to mathematical relegation. I still look at the table and think "4 points is doable", it just needs the players to suddenly start beating actually poor teams. Also, if you are going into administration (and I have no idea at all about that situation) 3 Thursday in March is a key date. If relegation is pretty nailed on you call it then instead of hanging over deductions to next season.
Millais!!!!!! Its all a big bowl of cabbage farts! Are we staying up?If we finish higher than three other teams, yes we will. However we appear to have a handicap in that we don't beat teams who have an F or C in their name. Time we all started to study league one to suss what giants we will be meeting next season. Sad state of affairs, those in charge need to take full responsibility for letting things deteriate the way they have. Still why should we complain or even care! I am quite sure Messrs Bruce,Oneil, decanio,Poyet,Moyes oh and Mr Short and Bain, hav sleepless nights worrying over the millions they have had to spend on dross and money towards their already large bank balances. All thanks to the caring, giving club that we have
