Getting out of this division at the wrong end was the last thing on our minds before Slade was appointed. At the moment though, it looks like that's the end it will happen if at all. Was a time not long back that after our game, I'd look for the results of the likes of Derby, Norwich, Watford and Middlesbrough etc. How things change in such a short space of time. Now instead I find myself looking down the list for the scores at Leeds, Brighton, Rotherham and the other strugglers just below us (at the moment) in the hope that they've lost as well. Those are the sort clubs that should keep us safe and give us another season in the Championship. God help us if we have to sink to watching out for Blackpool, Wigan and Millwall as well.
Well no point in looking up the table for results today - just downwards again will do. Reading and Huddersfield both won their away games today to go above us, and Rotherham beat Ipswich to reel us in. All I can say is good job Blackpool, Wigan, Millwall, Brighton and Leeds all lost. Down to 15th now, but because we're blessed with the dire stuff at the bottom of the pile, we've now gone 8 points clear of the drop zone. As Ian Dury said - Reasons to be cheerful part 3......
