Howay! Bit slow on here tonight lads, so how about a little bit of non-related NUFC fun? How about compiling a team from each one of the top leagues, dating back to basically when you first followed footy regularly? So no Bobby Charltons or Nobby Stiles, unless you're currently having your slacks ironed for the bingo tonight.
Ageist remarks aren't allowed on not606 so I'm having to delete this article.
It's actually harder than it sounds. I've given it a go for four leagues. You can do whichever ones you want, or not at all. You can instead just point out how I know nothing about football and why I haven't included glaringly obvious options such as Wesley Sneijder and Rivaldo...

    Anyway, for La Liga (4-3-3):
    GK: Iker Casillas (Real Madrid)
    RB: Daniel Alves (Sevilla, Barcelona)
    CB: Carlos Puyol (Barcelona)
CB: Sergio Ramos (Sevilla, Real Madrid)
    LB: Juan Pablo Sorin (Villareal)
    CDM: Xabi Alonso (Real Madrid)
    CM: Xavi (Barcelona)
    CM: Andres Iniesta (Barcelona)
    RW: Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid)
    LW: Lionel Messi (Barcelona)
    ST: Ronaldo (Barcelona, Real Madrid)

    (that's right - no Zidane!)

    Serie A: (4-3-1-2)
    GK: Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus)
    RB: Cafu (Roma, AC Milan)
    CB: Lucio (Inter Milan)
    CB: Alessandro Nesta (AC Milan)
    LB: Paolo Maldini (AC Milan)
    CDM: Danielle de Rossi (Roma)
    CM: Zinedine Zidane (Juventus)
    CM: Pavel Nedved (Juventus)
    CAM: Kaka (AC Milan)
ST: Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Juventus, Inter Milan, AC Milan)
    ST: Francesco Totti (Roma)

    Ligue 1: (4-2-1-3)
    GK: Hugo Lloris (Lyon)
    RB: Lilian Thuram (Monaco)
    CB: Cris (Lyon)
    CB: Marcel Desailly (Nantes, Marseille)
    LB: Patrice Evra (Monaco)
    CM: Emmanuel Petit (Monaco)
    CM: Zinedine Zidane (Cannes, Bordeaux)
    RW: Robert Pires (Metz, Marseille)
    LW: Ronaldinho (PSG)
    CAM: Juninho (Lyon)
    ST: Pauleta (PSG)

    So what do ye think?

    Just kidding!

    Agent Bruce's edit <laugh>

Here's my Serie A team in some sort of weird formation that makes little sense:

Buffon; Zanetti, Nesta, Samuel, Maldini; Nedved, Rui Costa, Pirlo, Zidane; Ronaldo, Del Piero

Tough to leave the likes of Gattuso, Totti, Cafu, Batistuta, Cannavaro and Vieri out but I guess there were always going to be high profile players missing out.

Whoops...how did I think of Sorin before Roberto Carlos? The omissions of Ronaldinho and Zidane in La Liga were the hardest...just impossible to squeeze em into it when the best Barca midfield of all time exists...

Xabi Alonso out Zidane in. Who needs cdm's in that team! Also Ronaldinho on form was more entertaining than Messi or CR7 so him in for one of those. Purely for entertainment purposes. Even if you're going to include a CDM it has to be Makelele!

Italian one - Del Piero over Totti for me.

French one - Essien was awesome in L1. Would say Drogba over Pauletta but he only had 1 top season in France Pauletta was the king!
