There's been a beel overdrive on Twitter lately by fans of other championship clubs over our spending and how we are ruining the league etc...... I actually saw a stat yesterday which showed a net profit this window so some are conveniently forgetting player sales I feel. Anyway... here is a summary, bingo style of some of the comments from fans who have tried to throw a few stones.... these are the clean ones by the way.... I saw one clown who called us nonce defenders for supporting Johnson.... Either way... a lot of fans aint happy that we have Rafa and are being linked with some of their better players..... please log in to view this image
I saw a Sheff Wed's fan's tweet to Sky Bet, He asked them for the odds on Rafa not being at Newcastle by Christmas, proper blew up in his face when Sky replied saying they wouldnt offer a price on that
Breaking FFP rules is a classic, so £100.000000 for Pogba and £75.000000 reported asking price for Lukaku, is okay then? Some clubs will spend a Kings Ransom this window. I doubt with player sales taken into account we will spend that much actually. Beel Away, they just can't stand it, can they.
A large premier league club relegated but with huge financial and infrastructure resources is always going to upset the status quo, Derby last season headed the attendance figures for the Championship but even with extra matches were still some 300, 000 behind our attendance in the Premier League, of course we are going to use our muscle to get back up and with one of the worlds top managers given full reign you would expect no less. One impact of our being there will be an increased interest in the Championship in the media and amongst fans in general, as Albert points out as well that despite recruiting a serious number of new players Rafa may make a profit on player dealings as he offloads at good prices, I am very much looking forwards to Friday night and onwards, if we do as expected then yeah tough for the other teams but there are still two other places for promotion.
Sounds like it would suit all concerned if we got promoted straight away and stopped annoying them - that will do for me!
I need to remind myself we're Newcastle not Barcelona sometimes too; we've done some savvy business beating Barca to the signings of Grant Hanley and Dwight Gayle...
Anyone who says we are in danger of breaking FFP rules clearly has no idea what the rules are in the first place.
It's fun to be a moneybags club for one season, safe in the knowledge that we'll be run of the mill again when we come back up.
I think the word to use is 'Envy.' We are big dogs in a small pond for a change and fans of other clubs are jealous.
As far as I am aware the FFP rules for 2016/17 onwards in the Championship are focused on loss with a cap on how much a club can lose in a season overall with restrictions and regulations enforced should a club exceed those losses, this is monitored over a 3 season period with a variable increase available in the cap for clubs relegated to the Championship from the Premiership from this season. There is nothing in FFP that stops a club going out and spending on players as long as they do not exceed the cap for financial loss over each season as a whole of their operation.
If after the first ten matches or so it is going the way we would like and in reality the way in which the majority of other fans expect it will be more like an elephant in a kids blow up paddling pool, despite the reaction given on here when you look at other clubs fan's sites it is pretty much unanimous that they expect us to take the Championship.
If Sissoko goes for £25million we will have raked in £45mil for him and Gini alone which we won't spend even with Mo Diarra and Ciaran Clarke looking set to join for a combined £8-9mil let alone the rest- Cabrella off the books (supposedly?), Cisse of to China, Tiote and Thuavin looking to leave as well. With all of those gone and we probably save double the wages we are paying out to the new lads as well as making a profit on transfer business... FFP do me a flavour. (sweet and SOUR (grapes))
Plus £13m for Townsend which has paid for 3-4 of our players. we have raked in loads and sold off some talented players, but opposing fans are blinded by the signings we are making. It is sour grapes, Envy and jealousy, but we had a squad that got relegated and our players held or increased their value which is rare, ask villa and norwich, no real prize assets that they can sell off in order to climatise for the championship
It is over a rolling 3 season average and it was some time ago I looked at it but I think I worked out we could make a £70m+ loss over that period and still be within the rules. You have to remember, though, that we are coming from a position of making a significant profit, so despite the loss of TV money we may not make much of a loss at all. Also worth noting, as has been pointed out already, that we may well make a profit on player trading this summer although it is more a drop in income and large salaries which would cause a club to lose money, rather than their net position on transfers.
Townsend - How'd I forget....??? And again that must be 50-60k wages a week save for him alone as well. Good point re. Norwich and Villa though, haven't seen much high profile activity from them even with Villa's new Billionaire Chinese Dr Owner...
I am getting the feeling that people just want to hurry the **** up, and win the league at a record speed, and then **** off and never return!! Just a feeling though.!
