Crazy bastard. I tell you though, right or wrong, if they were my dogs and they had no evidence of having eaten lamb chops the farmer would be finding all of his sheep with bolts through their noggins the following morning
With no proof it's just stupid. However do hold some sympathy, guy's trying to make a living and lost a hell of a lot of money because of it. Doesn't make what he did right but he's true when he says everyone's sympathetic to dogs because we use them as pets, but no one cares about the lambs because we eat them anyway.

There was absolutely NO evidence presented to the court that any lambs had been killed, or indeed those dogs, which had been handed to him in good faith by another walker who found them, had been anywhere near his (as far as the evidence had it) unmolested sheep. The spastic simply shot them because he could, thought he'd get away with it (he hid their bodies under a pile of wood - wtf would he do that for if he thought he had just cause), denied it until the police got involved, then eventually coughed when presented with overwhelming evidence - which is when he came up with worried sheep and self-aborting ewes. Doubtless the judge was some hick resident too. No sympathy whatsoever, it's been on the local news here in Yorkshire. The gobshite got caught and got off with it with astonishing leniency. Probably supplying the judge with child sex snuff films.
Yeah, that's a shocking sentence. There were reports pre-trial last week that he'd botched the execution too and left the dogs shaking as they bled out. Surely the reasonable thing to do in that situation is tie the dogs up, try and contact the owners and when they show up get them to pay for any damages and tell them to keep their dogs away, otherwise he'd take more serious action, which I then guess he'd be entitled to do.
I understand the farmer is upset. But the biggest fail/stupidity of this whole saga is that he put the dogs in an area where they had access to the lambs.
