Just in case you're at a loose end tonight, Hull's Tommy Coyle takes on Portugalâs Antonio Joao Bento for the WBC International Silver lightweight title at the City Hall tonight. 1,000 tickets have been pre-sold, with 300 available on the door tonight. Rock on Tommy.
I just had a look on Boxnation's website to see if they are showing the fight (they're not), but it appears that Freddie Flintoff is making his boxing debut later this month!!!
I'm not using Boxnation again, I booked the Haye v Chisora fight(for which you had to sign up to a monthly subscription), then I cancelled the subscription the following morning. I only noticed last week that they've been charging me every month since and claim they have no record of me filling in their online cancellation form. Despite having charged me for months for a cancelled service, they said the best they could do was a 'good will gesture' refund of £2.61. Generous bastards.
As it's an online form you don't get a copy of anything, so I can't prove I cancelled it, you just get a 'sorry you're leaving us' thing on the screen. I suspect they do it all the time, I'll have to do a print screen next time I do anything like this.
Well done to him. First Hull boxer in the top 20. But boxings pretty much meaningless these days isnt it. A 36 year old who's only had 30 fights!! Did anyone see the Ringside tribute to Manny Steward? He was around when there were great fights, Hagler,Hearns Leonard Duran Mugabe. Who all fought each other. Boxers get titles nowadays without fighting anyone decent for them.
It's obviously not meaningless to a lot of people in Hull, it was pretty much a sell out(1,250 in attendance). Looks like his next fight's going to be shown live on Channel 5.
