Dale Vince ex-wife wins divorce cash battle please log in to view this image After Dale Vince and Kathleen Wyatt divorced he went on to become a millionaire businessman A woman has won a landmark Supreme Court bid to claim cash from her millionaire ex-husband 20 years after they divorced. Kathleen Wyatt, 55, had lodged the claim against Dale Vince, 53, founder of wind-power firm Ecotricity. Mr Vince had previously appealed successfully against Ms Wyatt's claim on the basis it was too late. But five Supreme Court justices unanimously ruled in her favour when they gave their verdict earlier. The case should now be heard by the Family Division of the High Court, they said. One justice, Lord Wilson, said Ms Wyatt's claim was "legally recognisable" and not an "abuse of process". However, he said a £1.9m payout she had hoped to secure was "out of the question". But, he said, justices thought that there was a "real prospect" that she would get a "comparatively modest award". Mr Vince and Ms Wayatt had met as students in their early 20s and married in 1981. The pair had a son and lived a New Age traveller lifestyle before their eventual divorce. Ms Wyatt lived on benefits while Mr Vince lived in an old ambulance before he launched green energy firm Ecotricity in Stroud, Gloucestershire in 1995. He started the business using a wind turbine he had made from recycled materials to power his caravan. Ms Wyatt lodged her first claim for "financial remedy" in 2011.
Give her the old turbine he made tell her it's his source of the wealth see if you can make it yourself
After 20 years, she's had enough time to get a ****ing job herself. On Radio 4 this morning the legal experts seemed quite sure he would win!! They reckoned her position was really weak! For someone divorced twice and still not financially back to where I would have been were it not for them, and the ****ing CSA, this makes me so angry!!!!
She'll probably get bugger all though. 20 years apart; what's she been doing since then? Also, the kid will be over 18, so no maintenance there...
Theirs some sad bitches on this planet... A lot of injustice too. Wish him all the best for the future.
Read on one of the BBC reports that they split up in the "mid eighties" that's roughly 30 years ago - ffs
Absolute disgrace. Any substantial money he made after divorce should have nothinh to do with her. Absolutely infuriating this. I agree on some asset splitting on divorce but this takes the biscuit.
Well I'll tell you this Sid. If I was that fella I'd see my bairns ok & blow the rest on escorts, (no not Fords), drink & drugs so that bitch couldn't get a penny.
Knowing my luck I'd bet the lot on number 4 and it'd land on Number 4 and she'd end up getting more!!!
TBF the bloke's worth £107million, so bunging her a few bob isn't going to hurt. But the principle absolutely stinks...
If I was him I would be suing my lawyer. As well as the divorce you can apply for closure which prevents anything like this. Surely this should be automatic. Any legal eagles on here may be able to dispute that claim but if worked for my mate. Got divorced and two year later won nearly £300,000 on the lottery. The ex tried to claim and got sweet FA.
Not as well known 20 years ago though which makes this more difficult. Still hope the bitch dies before she gets anything.
