Milkman still comes around here as does the coal man actually. Chippy in newspaper is illegal in the UK. I would love a tea pot but I have never used leaves. Don't miss tapes at all especially for gaming.
We had a milk man and a pop man when I was growing up, and a video rental man. He used to have a couple of porn vids that were always 'rented out', apparently.
Aye we used to have a pop man he used to deliver Ginger Beer in the them Brown Flagon type of things like this; I used to be on the milk van when I was a kid - used to stand up on the back of the van and jump off with a hand crate as the van slowly moved up the street. Health and safety stopped that as some of the lads used to stand on the back when the van was travelling and a few fell off - daft buggers
I did the same, it was death defying in the winter with ice on the road, he would never stop the bloody milk van. I got paid £11 per week which was an increase from the paper round I had at £4 per week. Great times.
Me and the missus had a pot of tea in the town earlier this week. Ages since I'd had tea through a strainer! It was bloody lovely! x
That brown flagon (wrapped in a sheet) was my hot water bottle when I was a titcher. Sykes did the deliveries. Can also remember a van coming round the streets with groceries. Knife sharpener on his grindstone bike. Horse and cart ragman. Sticks was another.
Certainly did. Had a top & whip anarl. We crawled for miles playing marbles in the street. Any one of us had a tennis ball, straightaway there was 20 games we could play. All of us lathered, queued up for a drink out of the garden hose (or the tap on the wash house wall) we didn`t catch any dreadful diseases. We all had a playroom. It was called outside.
And the young'un's think its great to have a new video game - if only they knew what its like to have a healthy childhood eh
Tbf my kids are running riot outside as we type, every night (unless its raining) they are all out there, all you can hear are them all laughing and carrying on, i love it
Absolutely mate. Gang of mates out in all weathers. By the time we`d finished playing we were too knackered to get into bother.
