I've just been outside for a smoke and thought I saw a butterfly. It wasn't a butterfly: it was a wren. A pretty rare sight anywhere, but particularly on a business park just outside a town. It was a dear litlle thing with a very high metabolic rate. What's your favourite feathered friend and why. In breaking news: the badger cull has failed
always loved eagles. was at warwick castle years ago and stood on a bridge that used to have water running underneath it and a bloke with one on his arm walked right underneath, it was a thing of beauty. always been fascinated by vultures, they get a bad rep considering they clear up most peoples mess, think they are vital to the eco system as well aren't they? not sure what a wren is, i always think of the war when you say wrens, my step dad had a picture of a sparrow hawk ripping apart its pray in the back garden once.
Is all you think about your ****ing stomach? I was trying to bring a little natural history to the forum
It was a fair assumption. That's the Grange. Not anywhere near as much wildlife in there as the Cheese.
My favourite birds are Cocricos (the national bird of Tobago) - noisy stupid birds!! The other is the Frigate Bird - the nearest thing to a pterodactyl flying today!!!
Cocricos live in families and they define their territories by calling from one family to the other - but their calls consist of screeches! They don't land in trees they just crash into them. They are a right pain!
magpies are a beautiful bird, but sadly have the stigma attached to them of being bad luck, bit like crows, but always wary of them for some reason, probably because one ****ing suicidal one flew straight at me once. have a whole load of magpies at my daughters school playing fields, anyone know what the old wives tale for seeing 15 of the ****ers is lol.
