Rowan Atkinson managed to wrap his McLaren F1 round a tree and as the car is worth over £3m, they had to authorise the repairs. please log in to view this image http://uk.finance.yahoo.com/news/ro...206826286916":"news.reads"}&action_ref_map=[]
Considering that the cost of repair is below the value of the vehicle, write off is an overstatement.
It's not though. It's lower than the "new" price, but they're not in production now for them to get a new one. A replacement in the second hand market would cost millions. Is Atkinson "Flemke" then? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ar-faces-100k-repair-crash.html#axzz2KLjQewjr
Ricardo, they were never a production car, made to order, only 100 ever made. They could quite as easily make one now as they did back then providing Mercedes will make the engine for them. The replacement parts they're using to repair it will be made, I highly doubt they'll stock f1 parts on the shelves. They will be cutting that car in half and building a whole new back end, hence the extravagant repair bill.
I know they were never mass production, but they took the orders and produced them at the same time (granted over a few years) so everything was set up for it, any machine setup or specialist tools/moulds would be there and the cost of having them apportioned. It would not surprise me if there were parts in there that weren't over produced for replacement through wear and tear that required them to incur some of those one off costs again. The engine is another issue, BMW might have an objection to Mercedes doing it though. Another issue would be, were they loss making in the first place?
Not him, he managed to ram his into back of some old biddy in a Metro... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/485692.stm
i was amazed he i worth 70 million...im a big fan of Blackadder and The Thin Blue Line..but thats some wedge... does he write a load of stuff etc?
His money has mainly come from films, Bean and Johnny English both did well at the box office. Bean was the biggest, it cost £18m to make and took £250m at the box office, of which he apparently got £40m.
cant say im a fan of either, this will always be my favourite bit of his work, cracks me up every time.
