Anyone other than Col and myself watching this? Despite all the dross that appears on US TV, every so often a totally absorbing series appears, and this is definitely one of those. To attempt a brief synopsis would barely do it justice, but here goes. Charismatic serial killer Joe Carroll, who is besotted by the works of Edgar Allan Poe, escapes from death row. He captures and kills his one surviving victim from his earlier atrocities forcing retired agent Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon) to accept FBI requests for him to return to consult on the investigation. Knowing that he has a foolproof escape plan in place Carroll allows himself to be re-captured, feeds Hardy a few hints about what is going to happen, and duly escapes. It transpires that he was helped to escape, had arranged for a couple of âfriendsâ posing as a gay couple to live next door to his surviving victim who then kidnapped her for him, and also planted a nanny to live with his ex-wife to look after his son who again kidnapped him. These are just the tip of the iceberg, as more and more of his followers are revealed. Carroll was allowed supposedly restricted access to the internet when in custody and used that to develop his network of followers. Rather than relying on twists, in the way that say 24 used to, each week seems to present another layer of complexity in Carrollâs plans as these slowly get exposed. Iâm finding it a very compelling series and Iâve no idea which direction it is going to follow. Iâm certainly not going to try to second guess the finale, but it appears that cracks are starting to appear in his cult. Hopefully it wonât disappoint, although a second series had been announced and that always worries me. For those watching it, Iâm sure that there is more than meets the eye with Jacob (I can see the obsessive Emma not surviving the next episode), and I really hope Rodderick gets his comeuppance. I think there is still a strong possibility that there is still a follower somewhere in the FBI investigation team? Any thoughts?
As Roller knows....I watch it and find it totally absorbing. BTW Roller....I suspect the FBI female boss could be a follower!
She could be mate and I was going to suggest her (Debra Parker), but now she has been sidelined by the FBI she may prove to be the real hero and the new boss be a follower. Pretty sure it is not Mike Weston though. I think we get the Walking Dead Kiwi, but I've not watched it.
Yep....could be. Or the girl they always show in the FBI control room accessing the computer. In truth, they could make it almost anyone. What about Dexter? Always loved that. Couldn't believe that series 7 had started weeks ago and I had seen no trailers whatsoever. Fortunately I caught up on line and have just watched episode 4.
Yes Guys, I'm watching that too. Totally absorbing. Mrs Belfasthoop really likes it and that worries me slightly, lol. On Col's conspiracy theories, I thought Hardy's sidekick (cant remember his name) was a follower, until he was kidnapped by them and barely survived. As for Emma, she's got dead written all over her, bitch. James Purefoy is excellent and Kevin Bacon is the centre of the universe!
I've got the lot qued up on sky+ and it's meant to be a fantastic series. Forgive me for not reading the whole thread 'cos i expect it might have some spoilers in it Looking forward to the new series of 'Game of Thrones' and also this week starts 'Revolution' which looks like it could be a very interesting concept.#
Sorry mate. That happened to me with the Homeland thread. Best not to read any more although I don't think anything has been given away as yet. Game of Thrones is another I like very much and I too like the look of Revolution. Sky Atlantic put on some superb programmes.
Shame i cant get involved 'cos it looks like a good thread for fans of the programme...... Agree about sky atlantic......a fantastic channel, Boardwalk Empire was probably my favourite - like a Sopranos in 1920's Atlantic City
I hear you Stainsey, as Col says not much has been given away, but I'll say no more. Sky Atlantic does show some great stuff. I enjoyed a lot of Broadwalk Empire although I've drifted away from it and, of course, they are showing re-runs of the magnificent Sopranos. I've not payed any attention to Revolution. When does is start and what is it supposed to be about?
Revolution starts Friday 9pm i think. Basic story is how across the Earth, electricity stops working and everything reverts back to primitive living. The plot is something to do with there being a way to turn the power back on and the quest to find it (I think). Looks pretty good and might be worth watching.
absorbing stuff and enjoying The following just a bit concerned the odd episode is on the cusp of being slightly ridiculous. I hope it doesn't end up becoming a bit absurd. there's a formula being applied which is basically kevin bacon is about to bring down a part of carrolls ring and lo and behold another unlikely 'follower' pops up to to thwart the feds - it gets a bit predictable. anyway im being picky as its very watchable. just watched the first two seasons of the US version of the Killing - riveting stuff. me and the missus loved it. apart from that walking dead's top drawer and i've got breaking bad coming soon on box set. oh yes!
watched the first few episodes and then got very bored with it nothing new here save your time for something else great idea but a crap storyline
Just started watching it.......4 episodes in and fantastic...More twists and turns than a twisty turny thing and great music as well (cool version of 'Angel' by Sepultura) Soon I can look through this thread, spoilers and all
