This isn't a question specifically about this season. I'm just wondering what opinion everyone has on the hooligan aspect of Millwall and how it should be/should have been dealt with. Do you think they should have been threatened with points loss long ago to pressure them into dealing with their hooligan aspect? Or do you think that they should have been docked points without much notice, to get them in line? A series of fines for not meeting certain standards? Or should they be left as they are? How would you deal with it, if at all? I presonally think they should have been threatened with points many years ago, pressuring them into trying to tackle it. The club could have then built a stricter policy on behaviour on matchdays and used banning to eliminate the aspect. Am I being too harsh? I know there are other clubs with significant problems also but we all know what they're like. For example, they're opening the ground early to home supporters tomorrow so that Millwall fans can be avoided. That says it all, really.
It's difficult to quantify awjm, every team has its share of dicks - one of our fans stabbed someone at Everton and I'm sure there are worse examples we could find (which Lovely Geezer will no doubt be able to provide on cue) going back years.
Are we worried about tomorrow Last home match of regular season they need points A lost would put them in the mire We need points We need to make sure of position 4 (or 3) Last match ...fans often go on pitch Are we worried about them in the Shepherds Bush area I know the club are putting extra security on.....has this the potential to blow up
Docked points?! Don’t be so stupid. Almost always happens outside the ground these days so those individuals should be dealt with by the police. It’s a criminal matter not a civil one. When I was down at Bournemouth the other week I saw 3 Rangers fans hammering in one Bournemouth fan in the town centre. Should we be docked points for that?
Millwall rarely have trouble at their ground, it's usually 'by arrangement' these days and often involves 50-somethings who've never shaken off their Neanderthal tendencies...
I understand you concerns there Beth but think it should not be too much aggro. As we all know there most likely will be a much stronger police presence due to it being the Lions. In my opinion the thing that would cause more trouble is extra stewards in the ground which is very likely. The normal lot we get at the loft are a bunch of Neanderthal knuckle heads, more of them with there heavy handed approach and general rudeness is going to upset a few of our own. I hope it all goes off without incident with a win!
I don't think they should be docked points. It is not the Club's fault what Supporters do particularly outside the ground, it needs handling by the Police, Judicial, and Social Services.
Were we not the first club to have our ground closed due to crowd trouble? I could be wrong but I think at one time (30's) we had a reputation for being the worst crowd for possible violence/intimidation. Tomorrow could be special to Millwall but it ain't to most of us!
I believe there are road closures well beyond the usual boundaries tomorrow with fans being searched much more rigorously. I usually park on Bloemfontein with a friend who has a Blue Badge (legitimately!) and I was told last week I would not be able to park there. There will be loads of police and I'm afraid it will feel somewhat like a war zone!
I'm sure there is plenty a Club can do to try to avoid trouble, but at the end of the day I don't think it is a Club's direct punishable failure if there is trouble away from the ground, and not in it either if they have done what they can there.
I don't think it would be right to dock any club points because of the behaviour of an idiot minority. A club can't be held responsible for the actions of the people go to watch them, if a "fan" is caught causing trouble then give them a lifetime ban.
Possibly a good time to remind everyone that the stadium opens earlier than usual tomorrow, with turnstiles fully operational from 1.00pm.
The cost if the extra policing should be added onto their away games. A tenner every time there is trouble. Lifetime bans don't work, just how would we stop anyone entering the ground who is banned?
Maybe you should ban all drivers off the roads because of drink drivers or stop revellers going out cause someone causes a fight ,listen clubs like our's do ban fans ,try being a Millwall supporter who gets accused of being a thug because 30 or 40 morons run down our club, all I want is a win to stay up but yes know doubt someone will try and give it large know doubt but let the law deal with it.
You're right. But surely something could have been done by the club long ago to try and change the culture? How do you think it can be dealt with?
