Great white sharks fill most people with pure terror… ever since Jaws at least.

But the colossal sea beasts are now threatening our everyday lives on dry land.

Yes, they are now plotting to take down the internet. Could it be any worse?

According to Google, great white sharks have been nibbling at its fragile underwater deep sea cables in unexplained attacks.

There is even video evidence above (although featuring a bluntnose sixgill rather than anything larger).

Google is however biting back and has deployed specialist scuba divers to bolster its 100,000 miles of fibre optic cables with Kevlar – the material used in bulletproof vests.

The cables, made from glass strands, beam data across the ocean using lasers.

This is 100 times quicker than the next-best copper-based alternative, the product manager for the company explained to the Telegraph.

Sharks are secretly plotting to take down the internet
The sharks are drawn to the cables for unknown reasons and sharks’ teeth have been found deep within them as far back as in 1985.

Back then, shark’s teeth were found inside an experimental fibre optic cable off the coast of the Canary Islands.

And in 1987 sharks were blamed for at least four cable failures between the US, Europe and Japan. At the time they tried to find out why the beasts enjoyed nibbling the cable by forcibly sticking one down a shark’s throat. The shark was understandably not impressed.

Here’s another theory – perhaps sharks are cleverer than we give them credit for…

Sharks have too many teeth. Kids hate teething, makes them angry and irritable. Stands to reason that sharks are just constantly "teething". They're not smart, just very angry. Look at dolphins - nice, small rows of manageable teeth. Not rows and rows of broken-glass-looking murder. Result? Dolphins are lovely and often escort happy pirates back to land on there backs, often via big-breasted Mermaids. Sharks? Constant pain, thus must bite the sh!t out of everything. They're all vegans, probably munching seaweed and coral when no-ones looking.

Has anybody tried eating Shark. I've just been told there's a place up the town that specialises in it but the lad said that was years ago and he's not even sure if it's still open.

    Anybody know?

I ate this shark n onions dish somewhere, portugal I think or maybe lanzarote. Was quite tough, shaped In squares and was nice enough but ate a bit too much and felt a bit sick. School boy error. Little fish related joke there.

I had shark. Not that it helps, but it's like swordfish, but tougher.

What might help is that swordfish is like tuna, but tougher.
