OT- Sainsburys Christmas Advert

A lot are saying this is the best Xmas advert of all time. I can understand why they would say that...

Tricky subject mind. There is a risk of also sending the wrong message, bearing in mind all those who died. But certainly moving.

 

Showed the wife it this morning and she shed a tear as well. Sums up, in an important remembrance year what Christmas is all about, sharing and giving.
The whole ad is very tasteful indeed and doesn't actually sell a thing.
Doesn't need to.
People all over the UK are talking about it and if Sainsburys get a bit of publicity off the back of raising awareness of what our ancestors had to ensure at Xmas then that's perfectly fine by me.

 

Agree here. They are a customer of mine and I think their association with the legion will be designed to help on that score.

 

Talking about adverts, this is one of my favourites from years ago.

Bear in mind that the advert was shown in three parts over three breaks on ITV. Accordingly, no-one knew what the advert was about until the third break.

No, back in the 70's that was top class special effects with a hint of political incorrectness thrown in for free.

 

Speaking of 70s special effects, my favourite ads when I was a wee bairn were the SMASH (instant mashed potato) ads with the laughing alien robots. Used to love watching those.

 

Great advert, although not selling anything specific. Heartwarming, especially as it's based on an actual event by all accounts.
