Totally shocked that he died today.....Loved his comedy as a kid and used to know every line of 'The Young Ones' and 'Bottom' RIP Funny man
OMG. Well shocked and saddened at the death of Rik Mayall. Loss of a genius of his generation. R.I.P.
Another nail in the coffin of my childhood, used to go to school after a night of 'The Young Ones' or ' Bottom' and the playground would be full of kids quoting line after funny line from the night before. 'The Chess game' from bottom was pure comedy genius.... RIP Funny Man
Shocked and saddened. His role in Man Down was one of sheer genius. Add to that, The Young Ones, Bottom, Comic Strip, New Statesman, Blackadder the list goes on. Like Staines, thats another part of my youth gone. God bless you Rik and thanks for all the fun.
That's very sad. A comedian very much of my era I do like this clip albeit brief And imo one of his finest creations, Alan B'Stard....this one's for Stainesy
Very sad, still remember Neil finding his long lost bike in the 'chocolate' colored water bath tub. Rest in peace funny man.
Sad day indeed. He was responsible for a lot of my comedy memories from the 80's and 90's. R.I.P. Rik you complete and utter, utter, utter
Gutted. He was a big hero of mine, even from his Kevin Turvey days. I actually met him in the street in Ladbroke Grove once when I was about 14. He gave me one of his ciggies and a swig from the beer can he was drinking. He was so friendly and we chatted for a good 5 to 10 minutes, he was absolutely brilliant. Him and Edmondson together were fantastic, one of the all-time great slapstick acts in my opinion. RIP.
And the grown-ups will say "But why are the kids crying?" And the kids will say "Haven't you heard? Rik is dead! The People's Poet is dead!"
