Well done boys, can't help but be hopeful seeing the change of fortune FSG has brought to Boston. Maybe this year can be our year too!
Well done to the Red Sox for being the best rounders team in the world of America Bet Linda got it good last night
I'm not a fan of baseball, its like a slightly less boring version of cricket but well done to them. They have now in typical yank fashion given themselves the title of world champions even though they only won a national baseball title that not many people in the world even care about.
I believe Henry has been in charge of the Red Sox for 10 years in which they have won the World Series 3 times. Added to the fact they finished last last season, they've made a remarkable turnaround. Of course you can't translate success across different sports but there are similarities between the two teams.
Yaaaaaaas this means we are going to win the treble this year, the premier league, fa cup and u21 league. I knew if we said this year is our year enough times one of them would have to be. When we win the premier can we rename it the world league and be world champions like our cousins?
Baseball is one of the most pedestrian sports in the world. I can't watch it. It simply puts me to sleep. However I'm very happy because its good for LFC. Since they won the series, Henry won't be split between the two clubs in order to guarantee one of them success. It shows we were very lucky to be bought by them - they've revitalised one team, we are next. They do make mistakes and sometimes it might seem like they drag their feet, but we could have done so much worse where owners are concerned. The way it is we found ones that want to make us profitable by making us competitive.
Little Known Baseball Fact: The "World" series is named as such because when it started it was named after a news publication called "The World". It's literally named after a newspaper that no longer exists, not the actual World. I'm not a huge baseball fan but like all american sports I kow the rules and have a loose following - I follow the Red Sox solely because they are owned by FSG. This bodes well for Liverpool so GO SOX!!
to this Cricket SUCKS!! Don't agree mate!! It used to mean 'World' a publication, not anymore. Superbowl champions are 'World Champions' World Series champions are 'World Champions' Cricket is seriously played in 7 or 8 countries. But baseball is played seriously in more countries. Korea, Japan, Latin american countries & USA. So world series is defacto World cup and whoever wins it will be 'World' Champions.
The reason why this is relevant for LFC are several: 1) Red Sox were the dominant baseball team a 100 years ago, then fell on hard times - sold their best player to, and then were eclipsed by that awful team the NY Yankees (think man utd) and only came back to the title after FSG bought them in the early 00's. Now we have not been away from the title for anything remotely resembling that time frame, but still good to see that our owners can again bring success to the Red Sox and that their previous titles wasn't a fluke. 2) The Red Sox are the only triple series winners in this new century - something which would have been laughed out of Boston and New York 13 years ago. Again think of the Yankee's as United - they fill the same role in their respective leagues. I relish at the dream that the only triple PL champion of the decade will be Liverpool FC. They've shown that it's possible to take down the juggernaut that used to vacuum all the best players out of the league. 3) Last year there was some rumbling within the Red Sox about Henry spending more time on LFC then them. This should prove to them also that our very own special relationship is a good thing. 4) One thing you all can appreciate is that the Red Sox play in one of the very few non-sponsor named stadiums in the US - and still manage to be champions. I say John Henry gets fans. Let's hope that in the end it's the Anfield name that stands alone in a sea of airline and oil company stadiums.
I'm not making this up btw... but "sox" as in "red sox" is an abbreviation for "stockings" not socks. One can only assume this has something to do with baseball players all being cross dressers... but I can't be sure that is the reason.
