In these times where every penny counts, be aware of these adverts from companies about getting payment protection insurance money back for you.

this is any ppi u paid on loans or credit cards in the last 6 yrs

ignore them!!!! they will take a fee + % of the payout

all it takes is one letter to your bank etc and the cost of a stamp, to do it yourself <ok>

also the 6yr rule only applies if you DO NOT have original docs / agreements.
if you do have originals you can claim if the loan was > 6yrs

so get digging and good luck :emoticon-0102-bigsm

What?!? They're doing it for money? I'd assumed they were all lovely charity groups! Next you'll be telling me that Cash4Gold are only offering to buy because the price of gold is high and not just to ease the financial woes of charvers.

    I feel sick.

Those companies do have a useful function, in so far as they cater for the vast majority of people who are either too busy (in their own eyes), to afraid to take on their bank, or in most cases, too lazy to do it for themslves.

I personally pursued a claim, against Yorkshire Bank, over PPI mis-sold on my wife's Visa Card, and eventually recovered over £17,000. However it took a hell of a lot more than one letter!

Indeed, the whole process took nearly two and a half years, from start to finish, and the bank only paid up, when we appealed their decision, to reject our claim, to the Financial Ombudsman Service, who subsequently held in my wife's favour.

At the end of the day, the choice is yours. You can either do it youirself, using the useful guidelines, and template letters to be found on Martin Lewis' excellent web site, or put it in the hands of a claims managment company, who will act on a "no win, no fee" basis, but will charge you 25% of any monies recovered.

It's like mashed potato. You can either buy spuds and make it yourself, or pop down to M & S, and pay more, to have it already made up for you.

    Hope that helps.

If I could invite 4 people to a dinner party, Sambeobi, Balotelli, this lad and the fake Big Sam would be close to the top of the list!

That's faker than a fake thing, but I experienced similar in a past life working as a cashier in a prison. My office had the locked cupboards where prisoners confiscated 'valuables' sat until release, and it was so important to make sure everything was safely filed, since half of them would claim they hadn't received their '£14,000 gold chain'. Always cheered me up when I handed them their Elizabeth Duke scumwear...

I can only go on my experience in the past 3 month's , with 3 different banks and had no hassle with one standard letter. Maybe recently due to last ruling the banks have just gave in , unlike your situation.
Just wanted to point out to people, not to chuck a quarter of their entitlement away, when with a small effort they can have 100%
