That's not the baffling part for me - Ive never understood why a player gives up a % of a signing on fee and sometimes even their salary to an agent when all they do is negotiate a contract for them. If I was a player Id be quite capable of meeting with a club and going through what I thought were acceptable terms for me to sign for them and keep all the money myself.

    Agreed.

It's not rocket science is it?

A little but of common sense is all that's needed, saying that some footballers are thick as arseholes and it probably would be beyond them.

Different sport I know but both Michael and Ralf (Ralph?) Schumacher had the same agent and he took 10% of each of their earnings FOR THEIR ENTIRE CAREERS. That is a mental amount of money and he was known as Mr 10%. Now both of them - particularly Michael - struck me as articulate, intelligent chaps so why the hell they needed him I will never know. Surely he must do something else that we cant see for people to give up a huge amount of their incomes to work with him?

Both original and funny, I'd go as far to say that it's the whimsical jape of the season.

    Bravo.

That's another complete myth. Why is it almost everyone believes this? Is it just because David Beckham has a thick accent or what?

No , it's because I've met quite a few and I don't mean to say hello to in Nando's.

Thick as arseholes, not all but quite a few.

A surprising number of people seem to genuinely believe that all footballers are thick though. For example when that study came out recently concluding that footballers in general have a higher IQ than the general population everyone seemed really shocked by it. Do these people believe all scousers wear shellsuits and nick car stereos too?

Has anyone looked at what a GP earns (without 24 hour cover) including holiday pay and sick pay and pensions?
This is why they were provoked into outrage by the Government so their pay and conditions could be seen by the general public. They were too embarrassed to do much when the cat was out of the bag
