A thread for soothing things as we get increasingly wound up over the next 7 days.... I'll start with a diverting piece by noted QPR supporter and composer, Michael Nyman.
.....and now some Erik Satie, a little melancholic, but that's never a bad thing.
A bit too laid back for me Stan, I'll get the rafters shaking with this QPR fan, what a singer, what a band. Might just be our 'time'...
Well, laid back was the intention mate, so to to reinstate the calm here's Paco de Lucia, apparently trapped in a lift with some Holiday Inn lounge band......
...and the master of ambient, Brian Eno, challenging us all to stay awake, let alone tense.....
I always find this soothing.
...why not have a cigar while you relax? I can keep this going a long time lads and Beth, some one ask me to stop.....
You want calm....this would calm the most uptight of souls.....Albatross by Fleetwood Mac
I always found this to be a really good chill-out...
Probably my favourite piece of music, certainly on the desert island list, the finale to Stavinsky's Firebird Suite. We should really be running on to the pitch to this (listen all the way through and play loud) though almost any match would be an anti climax later. Roller, in the early 70's Yes used to take the stage to this....please don't ask me how I know. And I didn't post a Taarabt thread, it was a news piece on a player who's contract is currently held by QPR... Quite right on Echoes Sooper, I play the version on Gilmour's Live in Gdansk in the car to piss off the kids.
A bit of The Black Crowes... great laid back summer lilt.
Try this album...Beuna Vista Social Club...Rhythms Del Mondo.....Collaborations of some well known tracks given the cuban twist......The only one that doesn't work is track 3 by Artic Monkeys....some may like it....
Can I just make it clear that the first person to post any Enya/Clannad on here will spark a deluge of the most discordant, painful noise I can think of. Parkway Drive top of the list.
I find inner karma whilst making jam. I can highly recommend this especially when we go on a bad losing run Here are the basics to get you started http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2010/mar/10/how-to-make-jam
