Alright lads, heading up to Newcastle for the game on Sunday. It's been a while since I went out up there (normally get the train home same day). The missus is coming with me and we're staying Saturday & Sunday.
Can anyone recommend a decent place to get some grub and a few drinks?
We're staying at the Malmaison so somewhere fairly close to The Quayside would be handy but wouldn't mind walking a bit.

After the game last year me and the lads went to this decent Indian in town, unsure of the name.
But it's quite close to the train station. Maybe one of the Geordie folk will be able to help you out more. :)

Depends what you're after Alfie. One to avoid near the Quayside is the Azzuri. Used to love it but shockingly bad when I went last weekend.

If you fancied a bit Tapas I'd give El Coto a try up leazes park way or La Tasca which is on the quayside beside Malmaison! If you're after an Indian Sachins is excellent, that is round the back of the railway station at top of Forth Bank, so a bit of a trek. Akbar's in the centre is meant to be nice but never been there to be honest. Babucho's is quite nice for your standard italian fare (bottom of Dene St so handy for you) Gusto is quite nice and a short trip up to Jesmond for As You Like It is worth it, both for a few drinks and some good food. Finally from me One Oak is really nice, again on Dene Street

Tried both. Big Mussel is just ok. Obviously big on seafood but to be honest even their seafood is nothing special. Pan Haggerty I forgot to mention, also nice and get the venison if you go. Good atmosphere and again very handy.
