I can assure you that there was aa awful lot of no work done in our office these last two days - that amazing finish yesterday and now the yanks put to the sword and getting stuck with Bieber. Only downside I see is the result of the bet between our PM and Obama - now Harper has two cases of American beer (one for each game). I will be spending rather a lot of time making up for watching hockey in the food court in our office block - I didn't feel too bad about doing so when our manager fessed up that she had watched the women's game on Thursday

Imagine the nerve of the Olympic officials putting rhat game on a Friday afternoon

We Maple leaf fans welcome Phil Kessel and JVR back but we need one more major performance And yes, Go Finland go,

The national dish of Finland is KARJALANPAISTI (Karelian Hot Pot or Finnish Three-Meat Ragout), and suitable for a celebratory feast as it was in East Karelia

    New York Hot Dogs

    Tasty, simple recipe:-

    Karjalanpaisti

    Ingredients:

    •300 g chuck Steak
    •300 g Pork shoulder
•300 g stewing Lamb or mutton
    •2-3 onions
    •1 1/2 tsp salt
    •8 allspice
    •water

    Instructions:

Cut the meat into cubes (4x4 cm). There is no need to remove small bones. Put the meat and coarsely chopped Onion in layers in a casserole, seasoning each layer with salt and allspice. Add enough water to almost cover the meat. Bake without a cover at a moderate temperature, c. 175 °C, for 2 1/2-3 hours. Cover the casserole towards the end of the cooking time. Serve with mashed Potato, boiled swedes and lingonberry purée.

    Info:

The national dish of Finland is KARJALANPAISTI (Karelian Hot Pot or Finnish Three-Meat Ragout), and suitable for a celebratory feast as it was in East Karelia (northeastern Finland where it joins Russia) that Herra Lönnrot found many of the stories which make up the epic. The basic recipe was cubed pieces of beef and pork (and sometimes mutton) with a little salt, covered with water and cooked in a slow oven for hours until tender. Added to this basic recipe were various seasonings, the amount and the kind being left to the ingenuity of the cook. Thus you will find variations such as in the amount of onions used - anywhere from two to six onions, and the onions either thinly sliced or coarsely chopped - the use of peppercorns (white or black) or not, bay leaves or not, whole allspice or not.

Finnish cuisine is notable for generally combining traditional country fare and haute cuisine with contemporary continental style cooking. Fish and meat play a prominent role in traditional Finnish dishes from the western part of the country, while the dishes from the eastern part have traditionally included various vegetables and mushrooms. Refugees from Karelia contributed to foods in eastern Finland. Finnish foods often use wholemeal products (rye, barley, oats) and berries (such as blueberries, lingonberries, cloudberries, and sea buckthorn). Milk and its derivatives like buttermilk are commonly used as food, drink or in various recipes. Various turnips were common in traditional cooking, but were substituted by the potato after its introduction in the 18th century.

Karelian stew is the best homefood ever. Served with mashed potatoes (lot of butter in it )and with Ligonberry jam and salt pickled cucumbers. Fantastic food. With it lots of beer and Koskenkorva! Anyway great victory against yanks and bronze medals. Made my day lot better after QPR's miseareable performance. Only if we have done a bit better yesterday. Teemu Selanne 2 goals today. Patrick Kane ? Who is he?

Thank you bully boy. Finland played today with such a attitude and teamspirit that QPR today could only dream of.
In all of their performance shows the disappoinment of yesterday and that they werent that bad. USA were lucky
not to lose by more. Kimmo Timonen hold the tears after the match and when Teemu was interwiewed and he said that
this was his last match in Finnish team even the interwiewer was crying. What a way to retire as the MoM!

Canada 2 Sweden 0 after two periods in the Olympic gold medal game - bars opened early across the land to air the game.

Actually they should have scored a lot more than 2 goals as Sweden are really not offering much opposition at this point in the game - let's hope we don't choke in the third period!

Even Sid the Kid scored his first goal of the tournament on a break-way (just for Flyer!).

Well it looks like Canada is going to win it,the commentary here fellating Cindy is unbearable and that was before he scored, I'm going to have a nap and I'll probably wake up to find Sweden score just the one goal to give him the GWG and then have to hear for the next four years about how "clutch" he is when it is anything but.

3-0 now, perhaps against Finland it might have been less one-sided?

Sweden PP - would have to be an almighty choke to lose this now.

Finland have Tuukka Rask who is the best goalie on the world. If Fin would have been in the finals the would be 0-0 still...

A bit harsh there Igor? Considering the two most highly rated goalies playing in this final with Lundqvist regarded as the best.

Today Canada was to good to handle, don't think any team could live with them on this form.

Nice to win, but a more even game would have been a bit more exciting, and stressful.

Wish we could clean up other teams like that - only 3 goals conceded all tournament.

First team since Russia in Sarajevo 1984 Olympics to go undefeated through the tournament if I'm not mistaken.

    Enjoy the party Killy <cracker><bubbly>

No, Rask is the best goalie in the world right now. Canada and Sweden had better defences than Finland but Rask is the best goalie. Price and Lundqvist not far away. With Rask would have played in the semis against Swedes who knows? Canada was the best team and Sweden was dire in todays match. Bäckström get gaught in the doping test but Sweden can keep their silver medal....?

I am in what was once known as the Shipp Centre, now Sun Life Financial Centre out in far off Etobicoke, at Bloor and Islington, pretty much above the subway station
