So why QPR then, I assumed either you or your misses was from London. My missus was born in Oxford mainly because Herr Hitler was making birthing in London rather dicey at best. Her mother was bused out to present day Oxford until about a week after the birth then it was back to London to take chances with everyone else Had I met her earlier I'd have ended up a Hammers, Addicks, or heaven help me a Millwall supporter. But prior to this edition of Mrs Maple, there was another from Ealing and Mrs Maple 1.0 was completely uninterested in football as much as her brother was mad about it. Fulham, though. So to be annoyiing I had to pick a club from west London, other than Fulham. I already knew a little about Chelsea so they were ut of the question which meant QPR or Brentford. I chose QPR. Mrs Maple version 1.0 eventually felt she had to choose between me and England I ran a strong second. She is now in Wiltshire and we still correspond on occasion by e-mail. I have remained loyal to QPR over some 35-35 seasons on -through thick and thin - just sometimes wish there was a little more thick I do have a thing for English girls
Yes, blue and white the same colours as in QPR-shirt and as in finnish flag! Well, not eing an Arsenal Liverpool, Man U etc supporter, my flag can't lend colours to my football club and I was a Leaf fan before Canada adopted the maple leaf flag Our best goalscorer during this season has been Niklas Hagman. I recall Niklas Hagmen very well but I didn't know he was still playing. I get stick especially for British expats about my choice of football teams and from everyone else about the Maple Leafs but I always feel that when my club becomes a champion at something, it is always a lot sweeter than for someone who has been a fan ever since last week and who is off to the next flavour of the week. And this year it doesn't look like it will be us but I have hope at last for Toronto FC One thing I really like about this website, so many are lifelong supporters
Niklas hagman plays still and plays very well and is only 35 or something so he is just a teenager compared to Selanne! Yes this is a site where almost everybody has been a fan for a long time. Now when i noticed that there are not just me and flyer who like icehockey.
One of my earlier memories, from 5 or so, the small stream tht ran through ut neighboourhood flooded and then froze. My father was playing hockey with local lads and I thought I should go help his team - he immediately made me go becuase he was pretty sure that the othr teams wouldn't realize until ti was too late that a 5 year old had put himself in goal I have never fancied myself as a goal keeper again and normally try to play defence. I still remember that from 55 years ago. the muncipal council decided that they didn't need to hve tha creek flood every year (thre wasa trajedy once) and put in controls so it doesn't happen now - were the ice still availble I don't know if the kids would still go and play - not much opportunty to be checking facebook while the the thug down the road is checking you
One of my earliest memories dating back Ize making a hockey rink of perhaps onorthodox ahpe dunno - maybe 55 years was when the stream behind our house flooded a field and then froze making a hockey rink of unorthodox shape. My father and some of the other fathers and older kids were playing hockey so I decided dad needed help and I put myself in goal. I was told right smartly to get out of there. Nevere relished playing goal again so I played defence instead That is my earliest memory of trying to play hockey - at age 5. Years later, and aftera possible tragedy, the town decided to install flood controls so I expect that kids today don't have that opportunity. But maybe they'd not mind - it"s hard to be checking Facebook while the thug from down the road is about to check you, into next week
Yes I still have the hat Igor, you'll have to wear my/your flyers hat if timonen signs for assay. Maple, once a QPR fan, always a QPR fan, the current Chelsea / city fans were man u fans five years ago and Liverpool fans in the 80s. I never have any respect for them unless of course they come from that area. I chose the flyers for 2 reasons, I had a gf from Cincinnati and the Bengals played in orange and black and also they were terrible and just beat everyone up instead, that made watching the legion of doom all the sweeter a few years later because I didn't take it for granted.
If Timonen signs for ässät i will buy flyers shirt and wear it and the hat for the whole season! Thats true bully boy just cant understand types who change their favourite teams. "Wifes and girlfriends comes and goes but favourite teams stuck with you".......For some its has been relatively easy to switch for became to beloved Man Utd fan. Then shout out how is fantastastic to be "red and white for ever"....after being for excample a wba, birmingham or bolton fan for twenty odd years... Phil Collins or Kid Jensen ring a bell..?
I know selanne wear old jofas, he bought up the old one when they closed down. He might as well wear a cardboard one. Youre close on one of them but they are 2 different types.
Just cant think anything else than some latvijan and slovakian player are playing without helmet visor.....? Wait for it.....two players still play with wooden sticks instead of the composite ones?
Ozolinsch is the last player to play without a visor and chara is allowed an illegal stick because of his size.
Excellent hard question bully boy. Let me ask this: "How many goals did Teemu Selanne score during his rookie season with Winnipeg Jets 1992-1993?" Dont use google
I believe he broke the rookie record, I'm going for 42 as thats the answer to life, the universe and everything too.
