Just watched the Shane meadows stone roses documentary and relived some golden tunes from the era of music I grew up with. Got me to thinking in the age of x factor and manufactured music will there ever be bands like this again made up of a group of mates with real talent who have etched themselves into music history. Somehow I don't think anyone will be documenting one direction in twenty years time......-
As a footnote nothing irritates me more in music these days when boy/girl "bands" are referred to as such when there isn't an instrument between them!
Not seen it yet, but its my era and will eventually get round to it one day. One direction, jls, bros, five, all basically the same sort of pish - the name changes but the product doesn't really.
Gutted! I forgot about this and really wanted to watch. Was this on the Beeb? I will check I-player later if yes!
Fortunate enough to see them live in the early 90's at the Royal Holloway in Egham. Everyone in that room was smaked off their tits!
i love this band and was luck enough to see them twice in two days. i really was not impressed with made in stone. i dont think in really went into the history of the band and what happened after they split up. maybe that wasnt he want to do in making the film
Great band, up there with Funkadelic on this:
