Going to London with the family for a few days and wife has suggested taking in a show. Our kids are 5, 8, 17. I have checked out ticket prices and the cost is exorbitant. Any tips on how to get reasonably priced tickets?
Try this website, some up to 50% off and some other useful visitor info. Click on tkts in the first paragraph for ticket offers... http://golondon.about.com/od/londontheatreland/qt/tkts-leicester-square.htm
We were walking past the theatre that shows Joseph at around 6pm, and asked if they had tickets...they had two spare for the dress circle and we got them half-price. Worth just showing up at theatres early evening and asking.
Worth trying the box office on Leicester Sq, but get there early and be prepared to Q. Midweek matinees are usually the easiest to get, heard The Lion King is great for the kids and worth seeing. The problem you have is a lot of the tickets still going are 'Restricted view' so it's a matter of doing done research online to see if its worth the money or a complete waste of time. Hope that helps mate.
I remember 30 years ago when over from Canada on a visit to London with my girlfriend, we picked up last minute tickets to watch Evita - they were up in the gods, but we both thoroughly enjoyed the performance.
Probably better to choose a less popular show at the moment. Ticket prices vary amazingly. Another way to get cheapies is if you are going by train they do joint show offers which can be very reasonable. Also I use SEE tickets which have good offers
