I cant believe this article, I really cant: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18033752 Firstly, they did consult a Hillsborough memorial group for their thoughts which they really didnt have to do and should have been a welcome PR win after recent diasters and secondly the flames are still on there!! What do they expect - a 2 hour council with every third cousin of each of the victims? It's like the whole 'wont play on the Hillsborough anniversary' thing. They're so adamant when it suits them but you can guarantee if they reached a champions league final and it was held on 29th May they'd play then and what they would basically be saying in the process is tragic deaths only count if its their fans that suffered. Nobody loves self pity more and they're really starting to make me dislike them, although I'm sure they'll cope with this.
Has anyone on here ever read Filth by Irvine Welsh? There's one passage in the book when the main character is talking to some scousers and says: Scousers are a bunch of f*ck*ng sad drama queens. It's like the whole cess-pit of a city is auditioning for Brookside. Cannae be denied. -All I was saying is that when something bad happens in Liverpool, Youse c*nts go f*ck*ng do-lally. You take it as an excuse to parade banners at the football.....illsburgh.....i-sell.....I put on an imitation scouse nasal bleat. -Why can't you just sit in the f*ck*ng house and mourn quietly, Why do you always have to turn everything into a tasteless audition for Brookside,to show who can be the most f*ck*d up by tragedy? - Because we care, that's why. Because we stick together! The T-shirt spits out. Stick together! Ha! Youse c*nts are in and out of each others' hooses with each others' property all day long. Show the f*cking professional ghouls in that city something to mourn and they'll be out in force. That the boys from the black stuff ****e...you b*st*rds are glad that there's nae jobs, n that, cause it gives you something to act so f*ck*n tragic and hard-done-by! The biggest tragedy though for you c*nts was that Lockerbie disaster happened somewhere else. Imaginethe fun youse c*nts would have had if that plane came down on some ****ey Liverpool slum estate! It would have kept youse greeting and snarling in front of the cameras for years! An extreme view, and not one that I 100% agree with, but when stuff like this happens it always springs to mind
How insensitive of the various groups of scouse whingers to complain about this on the anniversary of the Bradford fire
It's not like they've removed it, I'd anything they've made it more prominent! If I'm honest I didn't have a clue what those flames meant until they just changed the bastard thing
It is a fookin good kit. Finally it seems a manufacturer and indeed a club hierachy has realised that fans dont want jazzy flashy ****e but a classic, timeless design that looks good on adults. How strange that it takes a bunch of Yanks to realise this.
I've always disliked them. It was the glory supporters team of choice for my generation. This story has just compounded that dislike. The new/old crest looks waaaaay better and as mentioned above, the flames are much more prominent. I actually know what they mean now! Going off topic. This story has resolved my confusion over warrior making the new kit. I was thinking they can make a harrington at bargain prices, but football shirts?
If this is the level they've got to then it's a wonder they don't also object to Sheff Wednesday playing on the site of the disaster, thereby regularly denying their fans the chance to visit on a Saturday afternoon to pay their respects.
