Another building that should never been demolished... please log in to view this image https://www.facebook.com/groups/278450892200994/?fref=nf
Apparently, it was further up towards Boothferry Park, where the little roundabout is(still referred to as Kennings Roundabout), though I don't actually remember the building, so I assume it was knocked down early 70's?
If you're talking about what it says on the front of the building, it's Commercial, I'm assuming you can't see the full image.
Correct near to Wheeler Street, to the left of the picture was a railway line (not sure for which route not good on railways history) complete with crossing gates, another great pic OLM.
I believe there were at least two on Anlaby Road - where I said (= the pic) and also at the roundabout.
Why is the MOT symbol three triangles? I just had a google and found someone suggesting it's brakes, lights and tyres, for the three most common retests, but I can't see that being it, nor why entwined triangles would be the symbol.
Nope - Commer was the commercial side of the Rootes Group: Hillman, Humber, Singer, Sunbeam (as was Dodge).
Sure was Stanley, my bad, thanks for the correction, my mate had a Sunbeam Alpine. Think it was the Morris sign that threw me as in Austin/Morris, mind you Riley and Morris were both B/L were they not?
I think that's possibly right, when it was launched the MOT test was only a test for brakes, lights and tyres and you only needed one after ten years.
Did that become the Chrysler Sunbeam, as advertised by Petula Clark? Put a Chysler Sunbeam in your life, it'll put a smile on your face. Or did it become the clunky Talbot Alpine?
I think there was the Sunbeam Talbot and Alpine. Chryler (who owned the Dodge marque) bought Rootes. Then later it became Peugeot. I think.....
Though not quite as good as its more highly powered cousin, the Sunbeam Tiger... please log in to view this image
