Last time I was over there the I saw a kid as young as 5 with one of these with the look in his that he gwan kill someone. This is a video of Grants Pen, Kingston - which is quite a notorious area. My Mrs grew up about 8 blocks from there, and she can't believe the youth of today. Each time we visit it seems to get worse! I know we used to play games like Cops' n Robbers, Cowboy's n Indians etc. But this is some next level ****. Am I getting old? Or this just a sign that youths today are getting drawn into gangster **** earlier and earlier? This clip I got from a reggae forum I use, and it's from Facebook. I'm not on Facebook but can still view the video - however, not able to embed it on here? Maybe a mod knows how? If not check the link. Crazy rass kids. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=169466689746494
well new one on me, one thing i noticed though is it didn't make them go absolute mental as a car went through and they all stopped to let it pass without vandalising it or anything, and they was only trying to hurt each other playing the weird game. i was more pissed off seeing the parents standing around watching in the back ground and not saying anything, should have invited them for a smoke or something and mellow them the **** out.
Trouble is, give them kids 5 years and they're using the real thing! Sky even your lady would have problems going into Laventille POS. It's crazy, 15 yo killing each other over 'control' of 250 metres!!!
5 years time they'll be running with real guns, that's the problem. Even kids of 15 (like you say Dave) are killing each other on a regular basis. But it just seems that it's getting worse and younger and younger. If you look in their eyes you can see that although they're playing, what they're doing seems so attractive to them. Going back to the car point by jenners - over in the Caribbean cars beep there horns non stop, round every corner to warn traffic and people on foot they're approaching. Literally all day long you hear cars beeping their horns, and generally if people don't get out the way the car will just run you down! Maybe I'm just getting old, and it's all a bit of fun. But when dawn hits it's their dads out in the road shooting each other down, so a cycle that will just roll on. The problem being that the cycle is hitting at younger age year by year. I know people probably think it's irrelevant as we're in nice 'safe' England, but you look at (for example South London) the main drug trade is run by Jamaicans that have managed to get over here, and they don't pet nah pamper! The road a run red, and this comes from their origin's in Jamaica. So it does end up having a knock on effect. Probably the same in Miami, as I know that's the preferred destination for young Jamaican ghetto youths. Or maybe this is just kids playing Call of Duty from poor communities with no internet!! All that said and done, it's a country I highly recommend visiting. Just don't wonder too far off the major roads
I know, but I used just one example. That being South London, and the Jamaicans are running the place. You could probably say the same for Asians in Birmingham etc etc. So it's clearly a problem nationwide, that is unstoppable now. But I find it interesting to see how these people are brought up, before coming over and running riot!
Some are brought up in this country as well but I suppose feel a different nationality due to parents and then mixing with others I think in some areas Triads is a problem as well There are no go white places in Notts and and im sure other areas as well Some places in Derby seem totally foreign, foreign shops and all immigrants Polish is now the 2nd most popular language in our country I think. I am not racist and never have been but I know ppl who are and feel strongly about it but to me this view is mindless and idiotic and no matter how much you speak to someone who has this strong a mindset, you'll never change it I dont know why we cant all just get on! I had a Polish mate but he moved back and he keeps saying for me to go over, apparently strip joints there are awesome and its not just for the eyes, other things are allowed And I've always wanted to visit Auschwitz due to a fascination of WW 2
I had a project in germany about 5 years ago. we had a yank over and he was so stupid, asked a women how to get to prague for the weekend... she advised him. the guys were all laughing as they would have told him to go off motorway to get all the hookers on the side of road. yeah that side of europe is nasty. Actually I had a college mate who went to romania on business and ended up in a brothel.... how he didn't realise... oops... anyway like i said 2 years square bashing ought to beat the language and some discipline into them.
i don't go along with the view of "in a few years they'll be doing it for real". I remember playing with toy guns in the woods near where I lived, none of us turned to the real thing! Same goes with computer games, I've played them pretty much all my life but I've never had the urge to go out racing, shooting or attempted to skate off of skyscraper! Its all bollox IMO I did find myself looking at cars and thinking which one I would most likely steal after playing GTA5 recently mind but I'd never actually do it
G, I'm sorry but Sky and I have seen with our own eyes that it's only too true. Man it's scary seeing people walk round with guns. It's even more scary when it's a 15 year old 'gagngster' who truly doesn't place any value on human life other than their own. There's no logic you can use to talk with these kids - they truly don't give a ****!
Yeah that's so very true for this country, but using Jamaica as an example, especially the shanty ghettos/garrisons that IS the lifestyle. We have so many opportunities over here and are given good education etc. Over there it's completely different ball game. You can look at that clip and pretty much say for certain that at least 30-50% of those kids will lead a life of crime and gangs - that's what happens over there. Has been for years and years and is only getting worse. I don't buy into the argument computer games etc. make you want to commit crime and violence one bit - not in this country I don't anyway. Because that's simply not what our culture (for the most part) is about. Whereas a lot of countries it's a huge part of their culture.
I really don't believe that the problem in the UK is racial. For me it's a weird form of multi-culturalism. The doctrine of multi-culturalism has killed the concept of the power of a host culture. Therefore in minority groups the kids fall back on an abstraction of the culture that their parents came from. So a black kid in London grows up adopting an accent that he believes is Jamaccn or Trini or Bajan etc and rejects talking any form of standard English even though he lives in England (and if they ever goes to Jamaica, T&T or Barbados get laughed at because of the way they speak and act). As they alienate themselves from the society that surrounds them they are drawn to the darker gangster side of teir parents culture which includes guns and violence. Somehow we have to coalesce around an accepted culture that has widespread support and that people are prepared to stand up and defend. How you do that I don't know.
I was sitting on a typical Caribbean bus (the ones that look like normal minibuses over here, where when you stop the whole bus has to get off to let you out if you're at the back!) and these 2 little yout about 14 jumped on and held the bus up. Gun in everyone face and took the lot. Luckily all me and Mrs had where a bottle of beer and a towel, so they didn't take ****. I couldn't believe how calm everyone was, it was although this was just 'normal'. The Mrs said afterwards 'just be cool man they don't mean no harm!!' And that was in Basheba in Barbados ffs!! Also the first time I stayed inland in Jamaica I heard an almighty gunshot at about 6 in the evening, I came out and in the Rum house 3 doors down someone had just walked straight in and shot someone in the head in front of everyone. A day later we found out it was for $2000 Jamaican (about £10), apparently it was just an outstanding debt!! The guy was a friend of Penny (the dread who owned the bar) and for a week everyone put black flags up and they hung his shoes up over the wires. The Mrs knew Penny very very well and we went to the funeral - that was a mad funeral.
Thats scary **** on the bus that Sky Only similar thing I can say is when me and my mate went to Florida we caught a bus to get away from the tourist bit and it went through all these run down neighbourhoods with school kids getting on, I swear some of them were nearly 7ft and 20 stone and me and my mate sat there, clearly tourists and we were the only white people on the bus. They were all really staring at us and that was very uncomfortable and intimidating Me and my mate are quite big lads him more so than me but we did **** ourselves tbh
Tobago is like the UK 20 years or more ago. Normal people can't understand what's going on. Everybody says "we don't behave like that" and "we never used to lock our doors" as the crime rate (and particularly the murder rate) soars. They blame the Trini's and Jamaicans who they say "infest the island". 10 years ago it was true it was peaceful - about 4 murders per year and if your car was stolen at Sunday School the police recovered it somewhere up North with 10$ T&T on the driver's seat for the petrol and inconvenienece. Nowadays life is sadly different. The island is too close to Venezuela and as the tourist trade has slowed the drug trade has increased. Not unusual these days to find abandoned jet boats (worth about £60K) on the beach in the morning. So the boys who fleeced the tourists turn to drugs to fund their bling and cars and guns. The police are corrupt and useless so the gangs fill the voids. It's violent.
In the US it seems "universal public knowledge" that violent video games promote violence. So they keep doing studies to try and prove a link... every time they discover the opposite; kids that play violent video games are less likely to commit violent crime. Turns out, if you're inside playing the XBox- you're not out on the streets joining gangs. People keep trying to link video games to violence and failing... but that doesn't stop people trying to link the two.
I like that - true though! Yeah a lot of social scientists haven't got anything useful to study, I should know as I'm 'a social scientist' apparently!
