Just a quick thread about my experience on saturday. It was my dads first game and was only told about it on friday evening so was all excited as we boarded the plane.Half way through the journey he asks how did I meet the guy who got the tickets, I told him I hadn`t met him before so he asked how I knew him which I replied I don`t know him, up to a few weeks ago I only knew him as stainesR. To say my dad was a bit weary would be an understatement but there was no turning back now. I has my tube plans organised for getting to LR and a possible lift back to airport. When we landed had a text from stainesR saying he could collect us at airport and bring us to game. I told my dad to which he said and you never met this guy before ... nope. We got collect and met his 2 sons( btw a credit to you stainesR) and off to the pub. There was no need for worry what a great guy stainesR is. We got to the pub had a couple of beers and off for a wander with my Dad before the game.Got outside the pub and my dad asked, and you never met this guy before. he couldnt belive how helpful he was been. off to the game and then back for 1 or 2 more, then dropped back to the airport by stainesR. The game itself we all know about. truth is we could of lost 1-0 and it still would of been a great day thanks to StainesR his 2 lads and his 2 mates. Next time we meet hopefully it will be for a promotion party. Thanks again StainesR and crew. CAH
Very kind words CAH, but i honestly mean it when i say the pleasure was all ours. The boys (and girl) thought you were both top blokes and your Dad is as sharp as a sharp pencil, that has just been sharpened . As i told you, anytime you or your Dad are back here, you are more than welcome and i will happily sort you out again. Shame that last grasp goal was offside but a great day anyway. Haven't heard from the boys since the match so don't know if i'm in trouble from the ex for letting them get half p*****............Bad father I am
Great story CaH, I'm glad you had a good day. I've sat with Stainsey and his mates before, even that dreadful match against Brighton was a laugh in their company.
It's true Nuts. My wife thought I was mad going to meet a 6ft+ bald, tattooed English lad in Waterford for a QPR match when I'd never met the langer before. Yep, mad crew on here. No prize for who I met.....
Nice one Stainsey. Seems like you must have been in My Cousin Vinny mode rather than the Tommy from Goodfellas mood.
I hope you bought Stainsey a half pint and a short CAH. A lovely tale CAH and I'm not surprised by Stainsey's generosity. He really is a top top bloke and a triffic lad. Well done mate.
Stainsy...brother from another mother....you are the best. But fully representative of our happy band of brothers, and a sister...You do the Rrrs proud...
We'll have to look after each other at 'Beautiful Days', Beth. I'm usually pretty messed up in the dance tent most nights so I really need looking after
