It occurs to me that I find a tinge of irritation when I see a team sponsored by an on-line gaming site. There is no great reason for this, my father didn't lose our home gambling nor was I abused as a child by Norbert the local drunk who used to hang out in the bookies. It may stem from all the proxy spam I get, although were that the case, I would also get irritated by any team sponsored by Viagra or wemakeuabiggerpenis.com etc. Sometimes it is not even obvious they are gaming sites, Mansion House comes to mind who used to be on Spurs shirts. Am I alone ?
Talk to Kilburn about it. Apparently he's sponsored by Bet365.com, gets a fiver a mention in his posts.
I would like us to be sponsored by General Asabe Onganbewe, cos with the 300 million he keeps wanting to put in my bank account (as soon as I give him my details), we'd be sorted. Come on General Onganbewe, you know it makes sense
I have to laugh at the advert for a payday lender when a bloke sitting in what looks like a million pound house securing a loan on the phone for a grand at 3000% intertest, as he puts the phone down he has the biggest cheeseiest smile on his face. Stupid ****.
Whilst these so-called payday loan companies are undoubtedly abhorrent, there does not seem to be a queue of wealthy philanthropists willing to put them out of business. Sadly, the laws of supply and demand are in play.
They will be gone soon, the OFT, trading standards and FSA are receiving unprecedented levels of complaint
The C of E have vowed to do it. I dont see why anyone would use them, Im with nationwide and I have a £500 overdraft that I can use for pennies a week.
Good ol' Church, eh Flyer, they'll really show 'em. Or perhaps not. It was hilarious when it was pointed out to the Archbishop of Cadbury (or whoever he's sponsored by these days) that the Church had indirectly invested in one of those businesses. I suppose it never crossed their minds to check what their cash was funding; perhaps some porn next, or an abortion clinic or two?
Did you know that at 11% pay day loan and pawn stores saw the biggest increase in high street shops last year? Tragic isn't it?
I did see that, it was one of the first times I thought the church were doing the right thing. Fair enough if theyve withdrawn from the investment once it was found out.
Theres a run down high street near me, I didnt go there for years and now its all loans, cash for gold and pound shops with very few real shops. Needless to say it will be years until I go there again.
As I said earlier, it's the laws of supply and demand, Sheffers. It's the same reason why poorer areas are saturated in cheap, nasty fast food outlets. It's not because these people are preyed upon, it's an educational issue. These businesses would be more prevalent amongst the more affluent if the more affluent thought they provided a good product. Mrs Ãber periodically goes into neighbouring Eastleigh to get her talons sharpened and tells me that the self-same group, i.e. a couple of fat birds and their corpulent offspring, are always breakfasting in McDonglers, irrespective of what day she makes her appointment. It would be easier, healthier and indeed cheaper to give the kids cereal or a piece of fruit at home, wouldn't it?
I hate McDs. They do put something in it to make it addictive though but once you break away, the thought of it becomes repulsive. Loads of parents are lazy, its far easier to give in and give your kid diabetes than say no and put up with a few strops but end up with a healthy kid.
Ãber, are you telling me an egg McMuffin, 3 hash browns and a chocolate milkshake ISN'T a healthy and nutritious breakfast ? Oh dear....THAT'S where I've been going wrong
