I have an iphone 4 which is almost dead. A friend at work has an iphone 4s, 16 GB which he will sell to me for £120.
Firstly, is this a good price and secondly, can I just put my current sim into the iphone 4s and connect to itunes and it will activate ?

    Thank you...

£120 is about right mate, and if you put your sim in will graft assuming it's either unlocked, or on same network as you.

If you want an iPhone, then it's about the going price. If you just want any decent smartphone (actually it's better than an iPhone, but not everyone will agree), and would rather spend a little more and have a new one, then get a Moto G - £159.95 from Argos.

If you get the iPhone, just make sure it's unlocked.

Be careful. The older 4S does not support IOS 7 very well. So much so, Apple released a newer version of the 4S to counter act it!
