So. I think we're all aware that there are very few of us on this forum who are 'time-served' Scousers. However, we all (including Tobes ) share a deep-seated love of Liverpool FC. This is not a 'plastic' baiting thread. It's a celebration of why we support the great team that we do. So. Where are you all from and why did you choose to follow the path of righteousness in becoming Redmen? You can start, Zingy
had to edit title, sorry... while intent is humour it can offend or be seen to be offensive which apparently is as bad... anyway sorry but i thought i'd tell you why i changed it.
As with Billy, born ito it, followed by the classic Scouser tale "you can take the boy out of the City........" Don't matter where I've been or where I will go, I've always ben proud to be Scouse and Red
I understand, but I think the original title would have elicited more response. Anyway, ****-chops, answer the questions
I didn't come on here early enough to see the unedited title. You weren't being provocative and/or abusive were you? That's not like you at all.
I'm pretty sure you've never mentioned that before. If you had, Tobes would never tire of bringing it up
Well, it's no more embarrassing than admitting I was born into a BS family within spittin' distance of Goodison.
Tut tut. And yet you betrayed your roots and your family to side with the Red half of the city to bask on their reflective glory!!
All perfectly true. Unless you know that the first game me Dad and uncle took me to was the first derby after Liverpool had just been promoted from the Second Division. The Reds were serious underdogs in those days. The oldies were cheering for the Blues, and me being a small but argumentative batard I went for the Reds. Their subsequent rise to world domination wasn't even a dream at the time. I'm sure it was a direct result of my unswerving support. Or maybe pure coincidence.
Said mine before too: Didn't originally have a football team as Dad was Rugby nut but when parents split up when I was 6 we went to live with Mum's sister for a few months until we found new house etc My Uncle Kevan was a Scouser. He, horrified that I only knew about the egg shaped ball decided to show me the true path of enlightenment. It's strange, I'm going to be an Uncle shortly and my Sister lives in Manchester.....I'm going to have to do my duty like Uncle Kevan otherwise my nephew could end up.....I can't even say it....
My brother is four years older than me. He is/was also very much a glory supporter, he's been a Liverpool, Everton, Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea supporter over the years going back to the early 80's (he currently supports Chelsea and Stags and hasn't changed for about three years ). When I was younger, I copied most things he did like most younger siblings do. As I became interested in football, he was a Liverpool fan, as was my mother who tended to follow who ever my brother did in support (she now supports Leicester in support of her husband but also Liverpool because of me) so I followed them too. I quickly learnt at a very young age that football was about loyalty (my brother obviously skipped this bit) and so stuck with them despite my brother changing colours almost on a weekly basis. My dad hates football, his passion was always motor racing which is why I have a bit of knowledge there too
Went to see Liverpool play Rep of Ireland at Flower Lodge, Cork in 1986. Was meant to go with my dad but he was/is a prick and lost big time on the horses so my uncle took me and my cousin. I fell in love there and then got a big huge poster and met the players got the autographs etc. I nearly got turned off them over Mark Lawrenson though an ignoramus of a man. The team coach broke down on the way to the airport and was naturally swamped by fans young and old. Most of the players got off the bus and posed for photos etc. But Lawro was being a dick and pushed my cousin to the floor. Im glad I didn't let him put me off following the reds though.
I am a born and bred Scouse, but sadly became a wool aged 15. In 'outing' myself, I can admit that my Mum was born in Newport, but moved to Liverpool at 2 months old. The family on my Dad's side was pure Scouse and both my Dad and Granddad were Reds, so I was too
