Do any of you guys and gals give blood?

I checked in my 7th donation today and I always seem to get a bit of a buzz from it mentally... Plus a biz of a physical buzz from the light head.

Could I have found Tash an alternative to the Vodka buzz?

Yes, I give blood as I have one of the rarer groups and so my blood is in demand (more than myself, alas).

I remember when I was in college back in the late 70s when we'd give blood (usually by the pool table and the table football) and then go to the bar to, ahem, replace the lost iron by drinking ourselves stupid by inhaling our body weight in Guinness. Yes, we got a buzz; normally just before falling flat onto the floor..

These days I am more refined and I go home first, then open a couple of bottles of red before getting my buzz and then falling flat onto the floor...

I was a blood donor, had one myself recently, not sure how long before I can donate again, good thing to do though.
Also a registered organ donor, and I'm on the Bone marrow register.

Yes I am a blood donor too, went Friday night actually. I went through a spell of being rejected about 50% of the time a few years ago as my blood didn't pass the test :emoticon-0104-surpr but I now seem to be on a bit of a roll :emoticon-0102-bigsm

I've been thinking about this recently actually, because when I was a child my Mum and Dad always went to give blood and I always knew it was something I would do when I was old enough. I never really knew though how the family had started to do this, and my Mum said it was from my Grandad. When he was in the war as a soldier the Army encouraged soldiers to give blood for their fellow soldiers and that is why Grandad gave blood and it got passed on down the family. I quite like the thought that this has been passed down a couple of generations and that I am continuing something that was started decades ago.

Never had the lightheaded buzz from it though ... but then I don't think the lemon squash they provide is particularly strong :emoticon-0105-wink:

I guess to the recipient, red and white blood is just as good as black and white blood.
