It is no coincidence that Sinn Fein are challenging the other parties in Ireland for the elections coming up. Hasn't he been taken for questioning and not actually arrested and charged? here's the script as I see playing out. Adams will be questioned, not charged and released. It will deliver a critical blow to Sinn Fein's election campaign in Ireland as votes will now associate Adams with a murder he was never charged with. Now if there is evidence, and he is arrested and charged and found guilty then so be it, deserved. I really doubt his hands are clean tbh and I am certainly not a Sinn Fein supporter that's for sure The timing is extraordinarily perfect for the Irish elections though, and lets be honest, there will be a sabotage of any election campaign of an EU member state political party that want's out of Europe and Austerity. Look at what happened in Ukraine to a government that was not pro EU. I suspect had Sinn Fein not gained massive increases in support Adams would never have been called on this. Though if he did I hope gets copious amounts of porridge for what he did.
Apparently Adams had been in contact with PSNI officers investigating the case since March, so now just before elections they decide to arrest him but just for questioning. Still though, doesn't mean he's innocent, I am very cynical, it helps to be
Bit of a no-no subject tbf, there were horiffic murders from all sides(Bloody Sunday), raking up the past is not good for the future. Jean McConville
No it's just coincidental timing of epic proportions lets see how it pans out, if he's charged then there maybe something to it, if he is not then it's pretty likely it was a hatchet job.
The police arrest suspects whenever they want in accordance with their investigations. Elections are of no concern to them in the effect of their duty and should never be. This will be ignored by the SF publicity machine. He will be questioned and held just like anyone else, and will be subject to the same procedure. Read the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (PACE) if you want. Gerry may well be guilty. Most likely the witnesses will be intimidated and they'll be no evidence. The family in question here know the identity of the killers - the son has attested to it on radio. The idea that it's a conspiracy by the state... don't buy it frankly. No-one would want the ****storm it'll cause or to give Sinn Fein the easy 'us against them' election promise, which their supporters hardly need encouragement to believe.
I doubt there is any deliberate political motivation behind arresting him. Whereas, I suspect he probably did give the order for the killing, doesn't sound like there is anywhere near enough evidence to charge him with anything. Disappointed the sons won't "out" the killers- was listening on World Service yesterday to one of them saying his mum wouldn't want him to be in danger by announcing those responsible. Think he's doing his mum a disservice by not coming forward personally.
You put forward an alternate conspiracy while refuting another One thing is true, both sides are lying ****s
Either the evidence is there or not...he's been named by two of his previous compatriots for his participation, police obviously believe they have enough to warrant questioning....whether enough to eventually charge we''ll see. But sure, under the GFA, even if charged, processed and found guilty his party/once armed affiliates (carefully neutral wording there) have not broken their ceasefire so what time would he actually do... It's the perversity of the half assed forgive and forget, it was a war wasn't a war game still played. IMO do one or the other.. Either your charged, convicted and serve a full sentence no matter what side or we have a general amnesty for all those signed up to the GFA...that includes both states involved who did as much dark arts stuff over the period as the paramilitary groups...this might be unfair to the victims on any side who still didn't get justice but then as I've stated above how likely is it a current NI ROI GB politician or their soldiers likely to face prison even if found guilty ? What I found more suprising is that Gerry is still electable after the antics of his brother and how much Gerry was involved in covering that up all those years.....
look in short..... anyone who was going to vote for that f'n party would see the same thing sisu is pointing too. the vote fro these guys is a protest on and a hard left one as labour in ireland and the uk can both be called at best pinkos.
Page, I totally agree with you. I can see nothing to be gained by discussing it on this forum. If you wish to discuss the legal or political aspects of these events then there are other forums more suitable to the debate. On here we are more likely to blunder into argument than to add anything worthwhile to either knowledge or understanding.
I'd also like to point out that his cousin, Charlie, does not have Free Kicks worth £10million alone.
The family of Jean McConville deserve the truth and for whoever was responsible for her murder to be brought to justice.
