Some of you know I'm disabled and over the last 3-4 years have had numerous trips to the theatre lol, I thought that maybe this year would be operation free, but no, I get an appointment for another on the 31st of this month, not to concerned as it's a routine job lol, but after recently having a scan I'm having to go and have a Cystoscopy which has been arranged at the double like tomorrow, after all the ops i've had you'd think I wouldn't be to worried but the thought of having a camera inserted through my middle eye has got me a tad nervous lol, bit of a long shot but has anyone here had one done and could settle my nerves.

You shouldn't feel any serious pain as a flexible cystoscopy is usually carried out using a local anaesthetic gel or spray to numb the urethra. A rigid cystoscopy is usually done under general anaesthetic (where you are asleep), or a spinal anaesthetic (epidural) that numbs all feeling below your spine.

However, for some people the procedure may feel uncomfortable and you may have mild side effects afterwards, such as muscle pain, nausea and blood in your urine.

You may also feel a burning sensation when passing urine for a few days after the procedure.

Erm thanks DJR, those after effects are the same as my symptoms lol, are you speaking from experience of having it done ?

Sussex, No I've not had this done but I had a similar procedure done with a Stent when I had Kidney Stones.

Side effects were the same, I was quite quick to get back to normal

Had something similar a few years ago SB. Not very painful although having a pretty, young nurse insert the instrument can cause problems.:emoticon-0115-inlov

This reminds me of when I had the snip in the Heath Hospital, there were 6 of us there that day, we were told to strip off, put on a paper robe and wait in the ante room.

I came out of the dressing room walked down the corridor to the ante room where someone had scrawled on the door The Nutcracker Suite
