Just for you Cest - you said yesterday how easy the test match was going to be to win.... Did you have to say it? 4 down now and still 133 behind <yikes>

Hope you're right mate - I'm sort of watching it (got my skygo on the iPad at work and have the headphones in whilst writing documents! Have to keep glancing when anything exciting happens!!) - am gutted as I was supposed to be in London today for a 90 minute training course at 9 this morning then could've gone to the test as the rest of the day was to be spent travelling but it got cancelled - quite devastated really

Up to 100 now so 91 more with 6 wickets remaining... Come on England

Looking all but done now. 60 needed. No point in taking that early finish then!

Didn't John Emburey score 75 as a nightwatchman once?? About 1982 or 83?

Not sure about that one mate but if I remember correctly Eddie Hemmings got 95 as a nightwatchman at around that time.

    Code:
There have been seven test centuries by nightwatchmen (as of 2012):
Player Team Score Versus Ground Date
    Nasim-ul-Ghani Pakistan 101 England Lord's, London, England 1962
Tony Mann Australia 105 India WACA Ground, Perth, Western Australia 1977
Syed Kirmani India 101 not out Australia ****hede Stadium, Mumbai, India 1979
Mark Boucher South Africa 125 Zimbabwe Harare Sports Club, Harare, Zimbabwe 1999
Mark Boucher South Africa 108 England Sahara Stadium Kingsmead, Durban, South Africa 1999
Jason Gillespie Australia 201 not out Bangladesh Chittagong Divisional Stadium, Chittagong, Bangladesh 2006
Alex Tudor (England) was also close to making a century as a nightwatchman; he made 99 not out against New Zealand in 1999 at Edgbaston, and was stranded one run short of a maiden test century when the target of 208 runs for victory was achieved.

PS: I love the cricket, and when there is no football on.....

That's heart breaking. I wonder if a nightwatchman has ever made a century.

Nasim ul Ghani signed as a professional at Whitburn and did nothing but then he had to follow Lance Gibbs spell as professional
