Lots of excellent racing at the Bahrain GP yesterday, but also news that Ecclestone and the big six teams have rejected a cost cap on F1 team spending. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/26923436 I think TF was promised (by Ecclestone and the big teams) that a cost cap would be put in place when they were courting him to join F1, and he has talked in favour of it numerous times. He spends (but others like sponsors and the drivers themselves contribute) about £60m a year on the team, while the big six spend more like £200m. Which shows you why its not competitive. I reckon he'll walk at the end of this season, may announce it way before. Ecclestone claims to have 2 new teams lined up and a 26 car grid seems way too many, something has to give.
One of the teams is a NASCAR team apparently, Bernie has been dying to get the Yanks properly involved so TF will become eminently dispensible. You wonder whether TF will get a buyer for his team?...
A US team and a couple of decent US drivers.......Ecclestone's wet dream, a license to print money, unless the sport ****s up like it did in Indianapolis - there is still a huge well of suspicion in the States linked to this, a lot of ordinary racegoers spent a lot of money on nothing that weekend.
I don't see the yanks buying it, they will want to have a team america car in stars and stripes! That means it will have to be based over there. He should find a buyer unless several teams drop out last the same time.
Team America, **** Yeah!
I love south park and the things matt and trey do. They get everything spot on, the only thing I've ever disagreed with them is they think people have the right to smoke in bars.
It wont be a Nascar team, the cars are not fast enough!!! Apparently its a Gene Hass team (Newman Hass) and its a done deal. The other team is not a certainty yet.
