Its a joke how owners can wipe out a clubs history, tradition and heritage with one decision like this. Its like owning a club on a games console or PC, "I'll swap the kit this week". I can only think what the Cardiff fans are feeling at this. Just hope Allam doesn't see it and think it could be the way forward. City playing in an Egyptian Red kit?????? **** me we are losing OUR game really fast.
# Absolute Bollocks. There are other ways to secure a clubs future than this. This is an owners choice, doing what he wants regardless of what anyone thinks, with HIS toy. They brought the idea up months ago and nobody wanted it, he hasn't listened to the fans at all.
Sonic gold and black anyone ? grrr Don Robinson liked us having red in our colours. I sure wouldn't like it IF we changed from Black and Amber.
Yer, I know that. But it don't make it right does it? Its a sad day for football when so many are accepting this without a thought. First of many??
Could of had a compromise. Red away kit, kept the blue home with red trim or summat. Not change kit, badge and nickname. Can you put a price on the history of a club??? 10M, 100M - 200M???
The Cardiff owners seem to think they can. It's not too bad it's only a colour it's not a city move or a name change or merger with Swansea.
It's not just the initial investment it's creating a brand which can marketed and developed in the East. I'm dubious as to it working but it shows forward thinking and it signals exciting times ahead for Cardiff. With regards to listening to fans, there's only so much attention an owner can pay to the fans, as the majority are in fact morons. If fans had a say in everything we'd have 92 Portsmouth's on our hands, owners are there to make business decisions without the emotional attachment associated with being a fan.
You could argue moving to a soul-less new build stadium erodes part of the clubs history too but most clubs are willing to do so to progress. As for the badge, clubs change them all the time, if you have seen the new Cardiff one it pays tribute to their history with a bluebird.
Personal opinion - It don't sit well with me. Now would other peoples views change if we were talking about this happening to City??? Its ok to accept the changes from a distance, but to YOUR own club???
That's a ridiculous thing to say. Don't you think tradition has any place in football? If someone came along and said "to hell with over a hundred years of black and amber you're playing in luminescent green from now on." would that be ok? I honestly think some supporters have a door mat strapped to their backs with the words 'Wipe your feet here.'
owners are there to make business decisions without the emotional attachment associated with being a fan. defo
No and that's not what's happened. They've tastefully changed the badge, paying tribute to tradition, they've changed the home strip colour and made the away kit the same as their traditional colours. In return there's a huge investment in both club and infrastructure as well as creating a marketable brand for the East.
I thought Portsmouth's problems were down to a succession of incompetent and mercenary owners. How exactly did the fans cause their downfall? Also you seem to have a total lack of respect for supporters which probably says more about you, but anyone with even a glimmer of football knowledge knows that the supporters are the club and the day we lose interest will be the day football dies.
