Brentford only 1 point off the automatic promotion spot. Who'd have thunk it!

A fair shout, I had noticed this also.

Do they have a new very rich chairman?

...........and our other West London neighbour, Fulham, who seem to have finally got their act together.

When I was new to football (well I played it over here but had not adaopted a club in the UK) i asked the members of the family I stayed with in Ealing who the other west London clubs were as my hosts' son was Fulham, they mentioned Chelsea, QPR and Brentford. I couldn't have supported Fulham because of their other support in that house, and I couldn't have supported Chelsea because well... they were Chelsea. Between Brentford and QPR there was less to choose but I became QPR based mainly on previous knowlwedge of the club and probably league position at the time (35 years ago)

I know Brentford hate us with a passion akin to ours for Chelsea but I do wish them well and look forward to playing them in the Prem next season. And maybe we won't have the smallest ground if it happens

I commented on Brentford's good position to someone yesterday, and they told me it could all end in disappointment. He told me that despite the honour of having a pub on each corner, Griffin Park is no where near a Premier League ground. If they were promoted they would either need to ground share whilst Griffin Park was re-worked, or they would have to work very quickly to bring the ground up to standard. As it is now, Griffin Park would not be permitted to host Premier League football. I'd be happy ground sharing with them for a year, as Fulham did a few years ago for similar reasons.

They're building a new stadium in Lionel Road, so they're ahead of us in that department...

I've always looked out for Brentford, went to watch them in the 80's when I couldn't get to an away rangers game. I am pleased for them and hope they continue to do well
