We must be quite close to fielding one of the leagues stronger British Isles teams . (if we sign Dawson)

    -------- Greggs ----
    - Chester - Dawson - Davies -
    Ince - Hudds - Livermore - Brady
    ------------ Snodgrass
    ---------- Aluko - Long

    subs Meyler , Bruce , Macca , Boyd , Rosie , Quinniesta

Yeah, I was going to say the same - he SHOULD count, but as he chose to play for Nigeria I guess we have to rule him out.

Move Ince up to the left of a front 3 (with Snod on the right and Long in the middle) and slot Rosey in at RWB.

i thought he would count , his nationality is English/British regardless as to which international Football Association he plays under .

i guess Andy O'Townsend regards himself an English n all

That's why it's a 'British Isles XI', the British Isles also include Ireland.

This might be a dumb question but how many other teams in the PL even have 11 players from the British Isles? Not counting reserves only players who actually play games on a regular basis.

Apart from Ince ^^^^^ this for me. Elmohamady is proven PL standard. Ince still has to prove that.

Harper for Bruce and Ince can make up the 7 on the subs bench.

It's usually the teams that have just, or have recently been promoted. I.e us, Palace, Burnley etc. QPR and Leicester are an exception I feel.

Man Utd have a few (Fletcher, Rooney, Giggs just retired, Jones, Evans, Smalling)

Liverpool certainly have a number especially with their new signings.

Burnley only have two first team players that are not from the British Isles.

Liverpool have 22 named in their squad, though obviously that's their full squad, not necessarily all players who will be in competition squads.

I've always understood the ROI as a seperate nation, Euro's instead of Sterling, kph instead of mph. Or am I just having a grey moment?

It is a separate nation, but it is also part of the British Isles...

Great Britain - England, Scotland and Wales.
United Kingdom - England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
British Isles - England, Scotland, Wales, Northern and Southern Ireland, Jersey, Guernsey, Isle of Man, Isle of Wight and loads of other small islands.

Yes and no. The UK and the Republic of Ireland are nations. The British Isles are not. Ireland is part of the British Isles.

(And just for Tickles' benefit, Egypt is not part of the British Isles.)
