OT BAE Brough

Siemens is the logical step , and hopefully that company would see there would be a ready supple of Skilled workers in the area to make it even more viable than just the proposed sites location .
Acouple of weeks ago Hull had slipped to 3rd favorite in the Place to locate the site , behind somewhere in Nederlands and a German site :/

Not sure if Vince Cables actions have turned things back to a Hull location , but it would be a massive blow especially whats just goine on in Brough
 
Was made redundant from brough in April myself after 10 years starting straight from school. I was devastated to be made compulsory redundant and know what these lads and lasses are going through and most of them are still close friends of mine. So my heart goes out to them and there families but I know most are a highly skilled hard working folk who are capable of getting jobs even in this difficult climate.

As for seimens the council and government should be trying even harder now to secure it to keep highly skilled manual jobs in the area.
 
We've just been put on day's where i work,from a two shift pattern.We are connected to the Aerospace industry,though it's not yet certain that this is the cause. Even this news was a big blow to myself and workmates as shift pay accounts for 25% of our income.So to hear these poor people are in real danger
of losing their jobs,is sickening. My own skill is rather specialized,and would be of little use to any other firm. Good luck to everyone at Brough !

They'd signed a contract of 'intent' which had an expiry date, that date has now passed. I think it's back out to tender. Denmark was a front runner too.....
 
Come on you pissy government - start another war! Build the planes to kill the thousands with. Jobs provided. Problem solved

P.S. I am sorry for the skilled workers losing their jobs, by the way
