Anybody watching this? It's very good. I'm watching it on the plus channel.

Thought it was just going to be about piss heads in lock up, but they've got this massive f**er in for questioning on attempted murder on a contract shooting that appeared on Crimewatch. They're showing interview footage and sharing evidence. Hate coppers me but they've got this knacker well and truly.

Very good TV. Well worth watching on catch up

Haven't seen it, Funk. But has this man been charged yet? I'm against identifying people before they're charged. In fact, I'm not so sure they should be identified before they are found guilty.

He was Charged and got found Not Guilty, Police must have ****ed it up by the time court came. It was aired after the case had been seen.

    It was very good.

It could be that the t.v. company paid him for permission to show it, in which case that's his decision to make. But if he didn't agree, and he was identified in spite of being not guilty, I think it's wrong.

There is nothing in law to prevent it from being shown, he is over 18 and the fact that it was shown after the trial means that it wasn't sub-judice.

Unfortunately, unless the judge prohibits it by means of a court order, any case involving people over 18 can be fully reported after the trial, which is strange because it could prejudice any appeal.

Bri, did you see how much body mass he had lost after four and a half months on remand?

He looked about half the size of when he was in police custody.

You're quite right, Monty. But I would question the law on that point on the grounds that an innocent man could lose his job because of gossip or have future employment possibilities hampered by reputation for something he hasn't done. Any children could be smeared at school, his wife could be too embarrassed to remain with the family, and so on. I'm not keen on identifying an innocent man at all. If he's found not guilty then the press should describe him as 'a man/woman' and nothing more. I'd like to see that changed as it can do more harm than the accused deserves.

I agree, the law is an ass. Until about a decade ago, witnesses, including professional witnesses had to give their full name and address in court.

This led to quite a number of them having to be relocated, at a cost to the state, because of harassment and intimidation.
