Just wanted to gauge opinion on this interesting Daily Mirror story. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/southamptons--dani-osvaldo-considering-2343956
It's already been established it's rubbish, Qwerty pointed out the Sky Sports article which uses far less typical tabloid poetic license: http://www1.skysports.com/football/...oying-challenge-of-adapting-to-premier-league EDIT: And with fantastic timing, Dani himself has taken to Twitter to voice his opinion: Dani Osvaldo @danistone25 1m I'm happy in the premier league and i Love Southampton !!! I do not understand why false things write...
No truth in it at all. The Mirror has reinterpreted an interview in a foreign paper which we are already aware of. Danny said he loved it here, though it was more physical and less skilful than in Spain and Italy. Said he loved the fans (he had had trouble in Italy). He finished by saying he would like to finish his career in Boca...not that he wanted to return home now.
We've already been through this one, but there will obviously be posters who didn't see it. The general consensus was that Osvaldo's comments had been taken waaaaaay out of context. But then you'd expect a newspaper to twist any statement away from the truth, and to make it look worse than it actually was. Osvaldo was talking about in years to come he'd love to get back to South America and play for Boca Juniors. But they all want to do that. That's a typical South American player's romantic idea of the final days of his career.
I really like Osvaldo. Seems a great character and was impressed with his movement in the first half. Lallana, Lambert and Osvaldo were cutting through Swansea's defecnce with relative ease.
The guy took a nasty knock on the ankle yesterday that a lot of players would have used as an excuse to go off, when he was subbed he didn't want to go off, I am not sure whether Poch was protecting him or whether it was a tactical move, whatever, it worked.
What I want to know is why can we not have a chant for a player that isn't based on '7 nation army'? Don't get me wrong I like the gaston chant but given that we had a whole thread going on for weeks about an Osvaldo song surely we can do better?
I guess it would have been a straight swap j-rod for Dani if he was injured. JWP brought on to 'see the game off' when we're only 1-0 up to Swansea seems a risky maneuver though!
I don't think so. It was riskier to leave things as they were. Something had to be done to make Nathan Dyer less effective. Steve Davis had knackered himself doing his various midfield duties and covering for Fox, against Dyer. When JWP came on that avenue of danger was reduced. Besides, we still had Lambert in attack, for another 10 minutes. Then JRod was brought on to put himself about, and that's exactly what he did, to great effect.
Wise of Dani to see the story and decided to nip it in the bud. Fans will be fans and speculate, but he's given comment and tried to reassure the fans that this is a non-story. It clearly is. He was asked about returning to Argentina one day, and said he'd like to retire at Boca Juniors. That's fine by me.
Thanks for that, I was just interested in the story. Those tabloids don't half come out with rubbish sometimes!
The decision that got me was Victor's goal. There was nothing wrong with it. However, it wasn't a corner, and I'm convinced Mike Dean realised that and decided beforehand that Saints weren't going to profit from his error. Poetic justice..? So do I think the goal should have stood..? That's a tough one.
