John O'Shea is a major injury concern for Republic of Ireland ahead of Tuesday's Euro 2012 qualifier with Russia. The Sunderland defender is receiving treatment on a calf injury he picked up in Friday's 0-0 draw with Slovakia. O'Shea, who started at right-back against Slovakia, is a candidate to replace the suspended Sean St Ledger in Moscow, Republic of Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni will give O'Shea until the last minute to prove his fitness ahead of the crucial qualifier Let's hope he doesn't play him, so he doesn't tweak that calf muscle.
Thats my worry! Bloody hell he has only been here five minutes and I'm already thinking of him as a mainstay of our team?
Just heard on 5 live that he has withdrawn from the squad naming a thigh and calf strain as the reason.
I find this rather ironic, i know its still early, but everyone was worried about Browns injury worries, and never really mentioned O`Shea`s, then what happens, O`Shea is the one that gets knocks and niggles and Brown is a mainstay.
Just proves Bruce has made a massive error in selling Anton and not getting someone else say Nedum again, if O'Shea isn't fit then it could mean a back four consisting of the average Bardsley, Brown, the fat error prone Titus and headless chicken Richardson next week against Drogba and Torres.
Been out all afternoon and just picking up the stories about O Shea, Gyan and Bardo. Can anyone update as too the severity of them and if they are long term or not. Bit worrying already to be talking about another crisis but those 3 are automatic starters for me and will be huge disruption again for the Chelsea game. Even if they pull out of any subsequent games, surely they will be carrying niggles? Bugger it.
Thing is, he was woeful for Ireland the other night so it's just an extra kick in the ????? that he is now injured.
