OSC Secretary's resignation sparks rumours of mass walkout

QPR1st understands Linda Favell has resigned from her position as Secretary of the Official Supporters Club. It is understood that other members of the OSC Committee have followed suit and stepped down.

The committee is currently made up of the following: Karen Hampshire, Zach Hampshire, Brian Ahearne, Linda Favell, Rebecca Favell, Brian Patterson, Simon Patterson and Ian Stenning. It's unclear at this stage, who the others are who have resigned, but if true, we presume elections will be arranged by the Club to create a new committee.

The OSC recently met with the Club on June 3rd 2011 to raise their concerns about the ticket pricing for the 2011/2012 season, amongst other issues surrounding the governance of the Club.

On Monday the Club published minutes from the meeting that Linda Favell has stated on message boards, were not written by her, and which she claims did not reflect the entire content of the meeting.

More recently the Club have been using the OSC as a vehicle and mouthpiece for the fans and has refused to meet independent supporters groups on a one-to-one basis, which in the past has occurred on a regular basis. We continue to regret that the Club currently is reluctant to continue with this practice.

QPR1st remains extremely concerned by the Club's inability to engage with its supporters and it's clear that communication levels have now reached a total breakdown between the Club and its fans, irrespective of whether it's an independent supporter group or one that is affiliated to the Club, such the OSC.

We are also saddened to hear that the Club is publishing incomplete, inaccurate and potentially false accounts of the meeting. There are unsubstantiated rumours at this time that not all of the OSC members listed as in attendance in the minutes were actually present at the meeting, and that the Club are deliberately manipulating material to provide a picture to their liking that does not reflect reality.

The Club continues to generate its own negative press by its actions and a mass walkout for its own affiliated Official Supporters Group is the first in the OSC's 75 year history and an embarrassing reflection of how poorly the Club is handling governance matters currently.

QPR1st will try to establish the facts behind the meeting and will write to the Club seeking their position on the matter as well.

    This is truly hilarious!
It's all beginning to resemble that very cheerful movie Apocalypse Now.
Trying to keep the chin up is a task fit only for the likes of Comical Ali.
    The darkest hour etc.

Evenin northy, just finishing up a particularly good pad thai gai and spicy squid salad with another local qpr fan and saying how much fun it's going to be next season.

Tomorrow is the official opening of the transfer window and I am convinced the signings will be swiftly confirmed. If none signed in the first week I'll be the first on here to eat some humble pie.

Give it time mate. When has it ever been any different with qpr and yet here we are in the prem. We must be doing something right?!?

At the risk of boring QPR4ever, what we did right was to bring in NW and send Briatore into exile in Italy, WBA2. Roles are slowly reversing...

Oh, and stay clear of the humble pie - pad thai a much better bet!

Spoiling for a fight then Hounslow?

This is indicative of what is wrong with our club. The "powers that be" just riding roughshod over everyone, printing what they want all the supporters to believe, and probably not caring if we do believe them or not. Their contempt for us is only over shadowed by their arrogance.

Congratulations to Linda Favell for standing up for what she believes in.

The qustions is, how are we going to do the same?

the only way to show has disappointed we are with the board is to not go to the games although this will have a detrimental affect on the team.
OR just support the Mittals by chanting their names at every game.

Still reckon tha the batchelors amongst the QR fans SHOULD have tried pulling Bernie's daughters. That way a QPR fan nagging to death his father-in-law may have helped NW. Still, maybe we can get his son-in-law to be a season ticket at LR and convince to become one of us.

Now, where did I pop my "Come back to reality" pill

Roller: I was just trying to say that one swallow doesn't make a summer.
In fact, if the whole of the OSC did resign, and elections were held for a new OSC,
how many if us could spare the time or be bothered to apply?
No reason was given for her resignation: if it was a protest against the board, surely she would
have wanted to make that point public?

I would have thought that , properly organised, fans can play a huge part in ousting unpopular owners - especially when the owners' actions lead to the poor performance of the team.

After fan pressure, Ashley was going from Newcastle after the Keegan dismissal - but what changed things was that Newcastle started doing well under Ashley and he took the club off the market. Manu's fans protests have faded with the clubs continued success.

So for the F1 Goons, take the right decisions and push the team up the Premiership table, and may be some of us (me included) will pipe down a bit - but I just don't see that happening because Briatore has already demonstrated his utter incompetence in football management, and Ecclestone is still learning what a football is.

I have been informed that it is not just Linda Favell who has resigned.

Goldhawk - re your first sentence, What if NW cannot attract players to LR because of the goons, and because of continued press speculation of his future?

    Come back Mittals...

Your right, Ninj. I suspect life for NW is difficult at the moment (history shows a statement of faith in the manager by the board is often the kiss of death!). Let's hope it doesn't become intolerable for him, and in the short term, the DJ Campbell signing comes off...

This ain't about swallows and summers Hounslow. This is much more about twins' heart of darkness and helicopter gunships coming at us fans. Listen... the ****ers are even playing Wagner!!

They're clearly intent upon blowing our lifelong culture to smitherines... they've locked the doors with ticket price hikes and now after Paladini's audacious revision of the truth , they're censoring and cutting lines of communications. When that happens, a Secretary has no option other than to resign. This in itself signals a significant fracture. When other committee members follow the Secretary out, that confirms it.

You ask, 'how many if us could spare the time or be bothered to apply?'. Your question answers itself: few if anyone. Not because of the apathy you hint at - but because there's no point in working to re-open shattered lines of communication when the receiver ain't interested in listening.

Roller asks 'how are we going to do the same?', referring to Linda Favell standing down - and up for what she believes in.

The answer's the same for every Ranger. Do anything and everything we can to oust the cynics that currently control the club - and in so doing, leave a clear message for those who eventually take over, 'NEVER **** WITH QPR FANS!'

    What to do?

    - attend every game you can afford to get to
    - wear a green and white scarf if you dare to

Everything else will heat up naturally according to extent of damage felt by the crowd. Go with the flow and join in the chanting.
